Just scored an assortment of vintage DEs

I just won this auction on fleabay. I recognize the Fatboy and the superspeed, but not the others. I guess I have some research to do. One auction and now I"m a collector, and all I really wanted was a Fatboy to go with my adjustable slim and flare tip superspeed that were already in my collection.

Top right, a Gillette Old Type
Bottom GEM Micromatic single Edge razor, a Gillette NEW in a nice condition and a Fatboy and a Superspeed but that you already knew.

lol I just did the same thing except I actually bought them! 2 gold & 1 Aluminum Ball Handled Techs....The aluminum one can be considered a different razor, can't it? :001_rolle

Do NOT be reluctant to try the GEM micromatic. Go to your local drug store chain, pick up a pack of their single edge blades (the kind you pick up at the hardware store to scrape paint from glass or that pesky car registration sticker - they look the same, but you want those sold in the drug store in the shaving section) and check it out. Many B&B members love the Gems and Ever Ready single edges and use them along with their Double Edges. Have fun. Search threads for Gem. While I like the GEM 1912 model, Im not a big fan of the Micromatic model.
The NEW, Fatboy and Gillette SS are very good and your likely be pleased with them.

Its hard to find a blade for the Valet that will work. The Old Style is a nice historical addition to your collection.

I believe you are referring to MTGrayling, who has been banned :confused:. Too bad IMO, cause he brought a lot to this community. As far as the razors go, I believe they've all been sold.

I won it for $41 with $8 shipping. It went for lower than I expected. I really didn't mean to start a collection, but now I think that it is kinda neat.:001_rolle

The Valet (in the GEM case) looks interesting and mechanically complex. Do you know where I can find out more about this razor? I'd be interested in age, type of blades, etc.
