Filarmonica Razors: is this a collectible I should get? Do they shave well? Specifically, the Filarmonica Doble Temple 7/8
.
Yes, Im a newbie.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Once honed up Filarmonicas shave quite well. If you are considering the one at Classicshaving.com you might want to take them up on their sharpening service or send it to Lynn Abrams yourself. Founder of Straightrazorplace in its various renditions, the man is good, and is who Classic sends theirs to.
Mine has sortof a curved edge, which shaves great, but is a little different to sharpen than the standard straight edged razors.
Sorry, I'm rambling.
Filly's are good. Don't spend a mint, but they are no longer made and are good razors.

Doug,
I think John pretty much said it all on this particular razor, and concur with his recommendations. I wound up getting mine sharpened by Lynn, and it made all the difference in me keeping it instead of selling it off.

I never met a Filly that wasn't a great razor. I have the 7/8 that classicshaving seels, and mine was shave ready out of the box, all I had to do was strop. Othe Fillies are prettier, but that one is a work horse and shaves just as well. They take a beautiful edge and sharpen up easily.
