Hey, I was just looking at this, and a lot of you seem to be big into pu erh, I'm just wondering what kind you mostly drink.

I thought I was high-falutin' with my lipton green tea, but shooot....
I'm not nearly as elegant and connoisseur-ish as some of our guys, though I could see me getting there (must...fight...TAD). I'm an Alabama born, Texas raised feller, so you can pretty much guess my first <gulp> option is good 'ole <gulp> southern sweet iced tea <ahhhhh>. I had my first different tea from a college professor who spent 30 years as a missionary in China, his wife prepared our class (only 7 of us) lunch one day with true authentic Chinese food (my first Chinese food), complete with hot green tea (my first hot tea, and green), and seaweed & fruit.....awesome meal, and was hooked on green tea since. Still haven't quite perfected it, but I'm not giving up.
Based on my simple setup (Hot Shot, microwave, or pot of water on stove) (at the moment, anyway), I don't do anything exotic, just grocery and health food store teas, but someday who knows

'Loose' English Breakfast in a Tea Ball..........

My current favorite is a mossy Assam, a good, robust black tea. But I also like English and Irish breakfast blends. I drink green tea at Japanese or Chinese restaurants, enjoy it, but I grew up on black tea and that is still my beverage of choice.
I'm still trying to find an opening to slip in my "three teas of Texas" joke.
Definite tea snob here. Lately I've been enjoying a 1st flush Darjeeling from Castleton Estate. Great stuff.
I've never tasted the Pu-erh teas. From what I've read it seems like it might be a bit of an ... acquired taste. :001_rolle Would love some recommendations for an initial sampling of the stuff.
Thanks!

I usually drink black or green, I try to avoid tea bags when I can and stick to loose tea.
In Bolivia I liked the coca tea. Not available here unfortunately.

Earl Grey mostly.
Though I have become something of a fan of Rooibos.

Mostly green; dragon well or "gunpowder".
Gunpowder green is also a great base for Morroccan or Touareg Tea.

My girlfriend's search for a silver moroccan tea set got me one from Craigslist for $40 that I've seen on ebay for as much as $400 (not that it's a good indicator of value)
That has also led me to wonder, who the hell had the bright idea of putting boiling liquids in a fully metal teapot. No wonder Jeeves wears white gloves.

mmm I enjoy a nice tea, although I am (be gentle) mostly a black tea drinker... and from bags no less. (I am FAR from an aficionado)
--The current fav, is Twinnings "Earl Grey Tea". I just love the orangy citrus note. Nice and warm, good to drink in the cool mornings! :001_smile

I am sure this is innocent and all but I tend to stay away from things to drink that are flushed...
I do keep some loose tea around. Black currant for iced tea and Marani http://www.teamerchants.com/buy/1/6/117/Marani-/953.aspx from Tea Geschwender. Very interesting and ultra aromatic, I liked it better in the store, but it is ok for the rare ocassions I do want tea. I will branch out a little when thats all gone...
