How long before shaving should I strop?

Like can I do it a few hours before?
Or is that not good for the blade?
I know everyone does it right before, but does anyone do it a few hours before?

I normally always strop right before the shave but have on occasion stropped then either taken the razor(s) with me traveling with no strop or else stropped for a shave then been interrupted and not gotten to the shave in some cases for hours or longer. In each case I stropped as I normally would and the shave seemed ok when I used that razor, but typically I try to do it right before the shave.

You can probably get away with stropping in the evening and shaving in the early morning however remember that rust starts to form on the razor within minutes of air hitting it on a microscopic level. Stropping removes this rust.
