does anyone here make their own face tonic to spray on their face in place of witchazel. i got the idea after finding out car made his own. i have been experimenting with bottled water mixed with a couple drops of essential oils but was thinking of making a rose water with the bottled water and then mixing in the essential oils. any ideas or recipes on this?

Does the witch hazel irritate your skin?

2-3 drops of Lavender E.O. for 10 or so tsp of witch hazel is a recipe I use for skin tonic.

Yes, but its rather pricey, and has preservatives in it. To each his/her own.

There are plenty of sources for hydrosols which are inexpensive and nicely scented - you may want to heck out those for another option. QED has some nice ones (DaVinci water, lemon verbena tonic, peppermint), as well as Em's place, etc.

I get Thayer's for around $6 a bottle, which doesn't seem that pricy to me.

IMO, $6 (i can't find it for less than 8.99 + tax) is more expensive than making it yourself...and Josh (the poster) was looking for alternatives.

With that being said, I don't mind paying up for a quality product. I have and use QED DaVinci Water.

But...The thayers has preservatives, which I don't care for. So I don't pay up for it. YMMV.

it's not neccissarily that i can make it cheaper but i enjoy being able to vary the product at whim. i also think that with enough experience i may be able to make a product that works better for my face. there is no easier way to wake up in the morning than with a hard core peppermint face spray.
