Since I asked this question without a response in a previous thread I'll let it have its own thread.

I saw Joel said this stuff was very similar yet better to Green Irish Tweed. I was wondering if anyone else could make a comparision. Is this a suitable scent for a 23 year old? I am looking for something to wear to the office for when I start my first "real job." Thanks.

Try out Penhaligon's Endymion or Quercus. Those are some more "youthful" scents. I'm a fan of GIT and Cool Water, so maybe we got similar sniffers?

Yea I have a sample of the Endymion and I like it a lot. I haven't tried the Quercus. I also like cool water but have yet to try out GIT. I was just sifting through old posts and found this:

I am wondering if anyone else has come to this conclusion.

I'm 30 and enjoy the Pecksniff's. It doesn't smell too old for me, and my wife likes it as well.

Which Pecksniff's do you have?

Now you mention the Pecksniff's Fougere as a lower cost alternative to GIT, however at around $75.00-$90, that's not too much cheaper than paying $90.00 to $110.00 for a GIT.

Chris,
I am actually 23 as well - and it is most fitting on a fella our age.... probably depends on your style though. I find I can wear and VERY much enjoy "old rich men colonge's" such as Brooks Brothers 1818 or Trumpers Eucris, provided I am dressed for the occasion  If you are in nice slacks and a dress shirt, and are well kept, I think you can get away with going UP any "age specific" cologne ladder.... for example - wearing a young/fresh scent like Quercus in a suit and tie in the winter.... would be "off" for ANY age, yet 18+ can get away with Mr. Talors, BB 1818, Trumper Eucris, AOS Sandalwood, etc etc - if the time of the year/attire is appropriate.

rvbert0,
I am not sure where you are buying your Pecksniffs/creed - but all of the bottles of peckniffs I have acquired have been at awfully low prices.... $60 or less, in fact they can be had occasionally from T.J. Maxx for around $30. As far as Creed..... most places (and ALL retailers) have creed GIT for $150+... which is mighty pricey. Search high and low and you can find 'em on ebay and such for less.... but that goes the same with pecksniffs.

Regardless, even if we were to use some of your figures - getting the pecksniffs for $75 (from londons bathecary here (http://www.shoplondons.com/pefoeaudeto1.html) which isn't all that "superb" of a price) and the Creed for your VERY low quotes of $90-110 for a legit (non-faux) bottle of GIT - that is still a whopping $15-35 difference. At the $35 difference the Pecksniffs is 47% less expensive.... while that may not be a big difference to you - $35 buys me a bottle of Taylors colonge.

Truth be told.... even if they were the same price - I'd still buy the pecksniffs... to MY nose, it smells a touch better, it has a nicer atomizer, nicer packaging, and a clear bottle - so that you can see how much product you have left.

To each their own.... my nod goes to the Pecksniffs.

Joel,

Thanks for the input. Can you suggest a place where I can find a bottle of Pecksniff's for $60 or under? Checked out TJ Maxx with no luck and have only seen them on the web for $75.

Joel,

I had been getting my Creed off Ebay, and Basenotes, and had gotten them appraised at the local Creed dealer, who I purchased a bottle of OV from. They told me as far as they could tell I had legit bottles, so I've been using that same Ebay'er for a while to get my Creeds.

But I see your point that $35 saves you enough for another bottle of something. I guess I'm more of a Creed supporter, and didn't see a $15-20 difference as too much of a hoopla.

I just received my Pecksniff's samples and I must say that I am very impressed with these fragrances. I like everyone but the aromatic chypre. Where are some good places to purchase Pecksniff's? Joel said these can be found for $60 or less a bottle and all I have seen is $70 bottles.

Hi Chris. What's your take on the Fougere? I am quite interested in this fragrance. You know of my affection for Wild/English Ferns and this Fougere has been likened as similar to GIT but maybe better. I do no like the Creed "house scent" which to me is synthetic and NO, I'm not trying to offend Creed fans. It just hits me that way. Please give us your experience.

Regards, Todd

I should be receiving a sample of Green Irish Tweed in the next few days as well so I can make a comparison. My sniffer is not as good or as knowledgeable as many of the other members on this forum so I am not sure how good this comparison will be. So far I do like the fougere a lot though but as I said I am not an expert. It doesn't smell synthetic to my nose. I emailed Pecksniff's to receive my samples so you might want to try that out.

Would you mind PMing me who you get your creed from? I used a dealer on eBay too.. would like to know if it's the same place or if I should be dealing with someone else (you seem comfortable with your vendor).

I received a sample of Pecksniff's Fougere that I'm wearing this morning...I can smell some similarities to GIT. I will have to do a direct comparison tomorrow morning...hope I do not offend anyone on the subway!! I did not see it on Pecksniff's website, I wonder if its being discontinued?
