My first straight shave!

In a few minutes I am going to embark on my first shave....

The butterflies are in the stomach but I think I'm ready, wish me luck!

I'll post back soon, hopefully my face will still be recognisable at the end!

Well, I'm still here!

Still waiting for my strop from Tony, going to be a week or so :(

And haven't had time to buy soap, so I had to make do with some gillette out of a can, which I know is terrible!

Was slightly nervous, but did a pass atg and another xtg, but couldn't quite manage to do it around my neck...but no cuts and a respectable looking shave so I'm happy wit that! :p

Edit: While I'm here, any recommendations of shaving soap?

Now if you dont have a strop, how did you strop your razor preshave? (If you dont have one you can use newspaper to strop on till your TM special arrives)

Tobs avacado is good.
Everyone knows that Mamma bears soaps and creams are awsome.
JM Fraser is also great (cheap, and lathers well)

Now also if your from the US you can get stuff from wall mart

I suggest the Bigelow from bath and body works, from my reading.

Onya, remember, light pressure is the key in all razor stuff.

congrats on the straight shave,
as mentioned be sure you strop on something before each shave, read this (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=33720) for a reference there is a section on stropping there as well.

for soaps a puck of Tabac is cheap lathers great and will last about 6 months

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I bought the razor shave ready from one of the members here so I thought I'd be ok having one shave without having to use the strop...guess I was wrong!

Yeah think it's the newspaper for me until next week!

Sadly I'm not in the US, but I'll check out some of those suggestions online.

if you bought it from someone shave ready you are right you can generally do 1 shave without stropping, I wouldn't recommend more then that though, in any case your face will tell you if you should have stropped as it may feel as if it is tugging some what
