Went to Sally's a while back to pick up Barbacide but the lady pointed out something else called Hydracide, it was less expensive so I bought it.
But now I'm a little worried since I don't see much at all posted on the stuff. I mixed up a gallon of it to the proper mix.
Guess I'm just curious if anyone else uses this or knows anything about it.

I've heard of it before. They use it in barbershops also. I just use a small glass jar with 70% alcohol in it--you can buy it anywhere. I dip my razor in it after every shave :001_smile

I'm not a germophobe, but I do soak all my "new" razors in the Barbicide jar for 10-15 minutes after I clean and polish them. Once the razor comes out of that jar it probably won't ever see it again. I don't sanitize the razors I use between shaves. I just rinse them off and occasionally clean them up with a toothbrush to get rid of the accumulation of soap scum; mostly for asthetic purposes.
As far as the Hydracide, I've heard of it, but don't know anything about it. When I started collecting razors, I bought a Barbicide jar and some of the concentrate and really haven't looked at competitive products. The way you dilute it and use it, it really isn't a big cost factor to this hobby, so I've never looked for alternatives.

I did read that rinsing the blade with alcohol either after a shave or immediately before will help kill staph germs that can lead to razor bumps and irritation. Never verified it.
