I am in Montreal on business and while shopping downtown I found a tub of Gisele MCCrone Sandalwood shavingcream.
The scent is great and the cream looks very good (I will try it tomorrow morning).
I don't recall ever reading of this cream on this website. Anyone out there who has used it? Comments?

Neither have I but I'm a big fan of Sandalwood so I'll be interested in your findings!

Giovanni, welcome to Montreal--sorry about the lousy weather! Giselle McRone makes 3 versions of that cream. I had the sandalwood scented one, which I thought was very nice. I bought it at a store called Centre du Rasoir, where they also sell a nice shaving soap called Barber Salon.

Hi Jeff! I love your beautiful city! So wonderfully European and American at\the same time. Lovely! I am always glad to come back to Montreal.
Yes, I bought the cream at the Centre du Rasoir: it was the last tub they had.
I used it this morning: I love the scent: very refined and subdued.
The lather was a bit disappointing to me: I found it rather thin and not very lubricating.
I will try it again tomorrow.
What else should I get while I am here? I am leaving on Saturday morning, heading back to the US.
Take care,
Giovanni

 Giovanni, just for the heck of it, if you manage to go back to the Centre du Rasoir, try the Barber Salon soap. It has a nice light, rosy kind of scent, and it lathers very well, and it's good for a tough beard and sensitive skin combo like mine. Oh, there's a store on Ste-Catherine West near Crescent Street called Vasco. They have a lot, and I mean a lot of creams, and soaps. They've got DR Harris, Proraso, and quite a few others over there, as well as DE's and I believe even straights as well as as all different fragrances and aftershaves. Check 'em out!

Jeff,
thanks very much for the advice!
I will try and make it to Vasco this morning, before my afternoon meetings start.
Merci!

Jeff, I went to Vasco: great place!
They also have fountain pens, another one of my hobbies!
I bought way too much stuff (my wife will agree!!):
2 Vulfix creams, one Dr Harris Arlington cream and cologne, a tube of Kappus Aloe cream (any comments welcome) and a tube of Kappus Nautik!
Good thing I am busy for the rest of the week and cannot go shoppingagain!!
Thanks for the e3xcellent tip!
Ciao,
Giovanni

Giovanni, Vulfix? I didn't know they had that. Anyway, Kappus Nautik is a good, basic cream with a cooling effect, I never tried the Kappus with aloe. I love Arlington shaving cream and cologne, I think you will too.

Luckily Jeff is so mild mannered and pleasant - That statement might get you in a fight with a different Québécois.

It is an expensive shop. (Very beautiful, by the way).
They had an Omega brush that I bought a couple of months ago for $35 (US) and their price was $ 90 (C)!
Where exactly is Centre du Rasoir? I seem to recall passing by it frequently during my time in Montreal, but can't seem to picture the location exactly. My next trip to Montreal will definitely involve a stop at both Vasco (where I used to shop only for cigars before) and Centre Du Rasoir

Actually I think you're mistaken. Canadians and Mexicans are actually Americans as well. We in the US seem to take it upon ourselves to believe that we are in fact the only Americans.

Rafik, Giselle Mc Crone is a nice, rich cream with a sandalwoodsy scent, and the Kappus Nautik is a good one also, it has a rich lather, and a slight cooling feeling. Mc Crone is 15 bux and Kappus is 4.99$. Vasco on Ste Catherine has them.

No my fault for not thinking of it earlier. It seems like you were able to pick up quite a good ammount of goodies so we all expect some pics and a review or two. Especially on the Vulfix cream!:wink2: :001_smile

Thanks, I probably saw it at either Place Alexis Nihon or Montreal Trust then.

I am still on the road (until Wednesday).
I tried both the Sandalwood and Lavender Vulfix creams.
Excellent lather, very good, slick and smooth action. Gentle and long lasting lather and superb razor action.
I got great shaves and no cuts or irritation. Definitely top notch creams, up there with the very best.
The scent of the Sandalwood is delicate and very classy, the Lavender is in my opinion better smelling than either of the Taylor's or Trumper's creams.
I rate these creams an A+. If you have a chance to try them, please do, I think you'll be very pleased.
