Today when I got home from class I found a box from the post office with two eight ounce packages of Ristretto roasters coffee beans and a Ristretto Roasters mug.

It smells great, I can't wait until tomorrow morning to try it out.

Thanks again DJ and all of the others who donated. Also thanks to all of the mods for organizing the giveaway.

Taylor's Avocado tub
Trumper's Coconut oil Tub
Taylor's Rose Tub

The avocado is amazing stuff and so is the Coconut oil. They produce so much lather and lubricity is the highest I have experienced to date.

Here's Monday's haul:

- A used Merkur Futur razor. I like the weight of this very much! I have to sterilize this tomorrow and try it later this week.

- Three cakes of HoneyBee soap: Lime, Bay Rum, and Sandalwood. I have been using creams for a while but I am anxious to try these highly regarded soaps. I notice that many contributors to B&B think quite highly of Sue's products.

- A 5.3 oz. tub of Taylor's Eton College shaving cream. The last time I used this stuff is when I lived in London in the early 1990s. I used to pick it up at the Taylor's shop in Jermyn St. I am anxious to use this and let the scent bring back the memories.

- A Burt's Bees shaving mug. I thought this was sort of funky when I bid on it on eBay. When it arrived today my wife claimed it looked like a death mask. Now I can't help but think it is a bit creepy: I'll be mixing lather in Burt's skull!

More to come later in the week...

I just got a mixed lot of razors and blades on e-bay, some of which might go on sale in the buy/sell forum:

Here are the pics from the e-bay listing:

I wanted a bunch of injectors and now I got them - looks like 3 lady injectors and two adjustables, as well as a bunch of blades and some odds and sods.

They seem to be in good condition, but I'll have to wait until I get them to be sure.

09-19-2006, 10:20 AM
Just ordered a Shavemac No. 22579 (http://shavemac.com/index.php?lang=en&area=men&sel=2&cat=3&product=22579&prod_id=3) in Finest...

09-20-2006, 08:03 AM
Duh… It’s almost impossible to find anything useful in my lost city in southern France, therefore I order everything online. Except today I found by accident a very small shop with the full Crabtree & Evelyn range of products. :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: The woman took advantage of my youthful enthusiasm and managed to sell me my very first beauty product. I feel so metrosex.

In my relentless pursuit of a brushless cream or gel for use when travelling, I bought a can of Fahrenheit shaving gel.

I was also lucky to find a retailer of Plisson shaving soaps and creams. The soap, Matin ambré, is very citrusy, while the cream has marine notes reminiscent of Kenzo pour homme. I noticed both the cream and the soap were made in England. How ironic. Plisson was Napoléon’s brand of choice.

09-20-2006, 08:44 AM
Yukio, je suis tres impressione! Le savon de Plisson est tres chic et elegant. Utilise-le en bonne sante!

09-20-2006, 09:09 AM
Thank you. By the way, where do you get your Arko stuff? With all the fuss about it, I have to give it a try. The more I try products, the more I realise quality and price are unrelated.

09-20-2006, 10:05 AM
Here is my new software:

-Nivea Men roll-on deodorant (thanks me)
-Geo F. Trumper Coconut Oil shaving cream in a tub (thanks Gordon)

Three nice Gillettes I found for a good deal.
I cleaned 'em up and disinfected them, and while the pic is kinda lousy, the razors turned out great!
from L-R: Y-2 super speed ('53); J-2 slim handle adjustable ('64) and R-2 longer handle adjustable ('71)

09-20-2006, 12:31 PM
I got a package in the mail today from one of our Canadian members ( thanks Suzuki ) in which he included Some J.M Fraser cream:drool: some Pella blades, and some very generous samples of T&H and Baxter products. I am always blown away by the generosity of the members of the B&B.
Cheers, DJ.

09-20-2006, 12:42 PM
At lunch today, I picked up some L'Occitane CADE soap and Eau des Bergers A/S splash.

Yukio, check out www.tulumba.com which is a Turkish online shop. They specialize in Arko products.

Yukio, check out www.tulumba.com which is a Turkish online shop. They specialize in Arko products.

Thank you... The prices are a joke; I have to order pastries and baklava to make the shipping costs worthwhile.

09-21-2006, 07:00 AM
 I know. Arko's so damn dirt cheap it's a scandal. In Turkey, the bloody soap can cost as little as 50 cents each, and in some places, 35 cents.

Saturday, 23 Sept 06

Just opened my mailbox to find inside The Tweezerman Pure Badger brush ($9 only-s/h included!)

Not as tall as my savile row 208, but taller than my savile row sr-22.

The handle has the same shape as the sr 208, but it's made of wood with tweezerman burned into it.

Currently soaking in its sour apple conditioner bath overnight. Will let everyone know how it shaves, whips up lather,etc,etc.....

BTW tyx to the forum member who pointed out where to buy( I forget who, however I remember where[beautyrose.com], but for $9 for a 100% badger, you can't go wrong! :w00t: :w00t: )

got my two-tone Gillette Tech from yomuppet today.

We went for a trip to Syracuse NY today to drop-in the Carousel Center for birthday gifts for my daughter. Got a few gifts for myself as well:

At Crabtree & Evelyn:
- SBAD alert: large Edwin-Jagger brush in Super Badger (I am not sure of the exact size, but certainly >25 knot)
- Sienna shaving cream in a tube
- Sandalwood deodorant (not exactly shaving stuff, but still part of the C&E score)

At Pottery Barn:
- Glass jar with metal top (I am going to use this for Barbercide treatments for razors)
- Small glazed bowl (good for whipping lather with small brushes like my new Shavemac)

-The white plastic container is made of soft rubber-like plastic. It is actually a soap container that snaps shut, but I thought it would be great for taking a safety razor on the road and eliminating water getting on other toiletries.

Next week is a whole new adventure!

09-24-2006, 03:25 PM
While bumming around an antique store today I bagged a 3 piece open comb Gillette. It has a serial number on the top side of the comb which dates it to 1918 and is marked Pat. Nov. 15, ’04 around the bottom of the ball handle and had the Gillette diamond logo and “Made in the USA” on the back side or bottom of the comb.

I also found a 1974 Gillette Superspeed. Both cleaned up VERY well. Both for less than $10.

09-24-2006, 04:16 PM
I had some fun at various ethnic markets today.

C&E travel brush
C&E Sandalwood Deo
Mysore Sandalwood soap
Mandom clay facial wash
Kanedo Super Refresh Facial Foam ( this smells fantastic )
Sunstar Tonic Menthol Shampoo

09-24-2006, 05:37 PM
Gee Dinder1, looks like you and I made very similar decisions at C&E today!

09-24-2006, 05:42 PM
Not really a score for shaving stuff per se, but I picked up this cabinet today to store all of my stuff.

Danny that is absolutely gorgeous! You need an antique shaving picture on the wall next to it!! :001_tt1:

09-24-2006, 10:51 PM
I would love to hang some antique shaving-related stuff around that cabinet! I am not sure how much my wife will let me get away with, though. You suggestion got me thinking: I found some old-fashioned barbershop bottles on eBay and perhaps those would look good on top of the cabinet. I'll see if I can sneak those in.

Awesome!!!!

09-24-2006, 11:27 PM

You can also pick up old razor advertisements on ebay which, when framed, would look nice in your shave den. Also, collect some some old razor blades that are individually wrapped and frame them for a nice decoration.
