In my transition from 24 bladed bliss to wet shaving, I thought I'd have to give up everything...

Well, I've been doing this for about 2 months, and tonight used Pirates Cove soap with a fatboy and Mercur blade. I thought I'd retry the AFTA that I had left over and used when I did the 24 blade thing...

I have seen a lot of threads on Nivea, but not many on AFTA.. It smells great and cools the razor burn right off...

Great stuff for $1.50 a bottle.

Chris.

See, I saw it, but I'm unnaturally prejudiced against plastic bottles, so I wasn't able to purchase it and try it out.

I just bough a bunch of old glass vials. If I decant it into one, I should be able to bring myself to use it. *grin*

afta is good stuff but its used pre-shave is it not?its been a while since Ive used it but i think its supposed to be used before you shave with an electric razor.

It looks like they do have a pre shave.. I've been using the after shave balm for years with a Gillette Sensor Excel. It works really well, and will continue now that I know that it works for wet shaving as well.

Well let me help you out (of your money ). On the shelf right next to the Afta is Old Spice, three or four flavors of Aqua Velva, English Leather, a couple Pinaud Clubman scents and Skin Bracer by Mennen.

Buy them, live them, love them. Do it now.

That is all.

Hello... If it was for pre shave, it would be called b-for, since its name is Afta, its for after the shave. j/k

Never tried the stuff. I am wondering why Nivea from Germany costs $20 on line. Isn't the German formula the same as the one in the U.S.? The 100 ml bottle costs like 5-6 dollars at wally-world.

I used it in college and the scent of Afta just brings back weird memories. Stupid reason but I honestly dont like it anymore. Works fine though:)

I believe Afta is also made by Mennen. Not sure what the difference is between it and SB. Maybe just one one being a splash and the other a gel? They do make both an electric pre-shave and a soothing aftershave gel.

Sure you arnt mixing it up with Lectric Shave?

I almost bought a bottle of this from Wal-Mart, its right next to Skin Bracer. Then i read on the bottle "for use before shaving with electric razor"

LOL, sorry, its late, forgot i was searching, posted in this thread from 2 months ago.

I just recently tried this for the first time (I figure if I'm going to sell it as part of a sampler, I'd better see what it's like), and have to say it's a good aftershave. It has a pleasant greenish/spicy scent and it does what it should.

Inexpensive and enjoyable DE shaves are possible if you know what and where to look for. No need to get luxurious T&H aftershave if you don't want to spend an enormous amount.
I like Nivea ASB, Palmolive and Arko shaving soap. Trusty products.

I remember it as being only aftershave, but apparently the marketing geniuses over at Mennen have created a line of pre-electric shave lotions using the Afta brand name.

Or you can go to a dollar store and buy the generic versions of AV, Old Spice and Mennen.

its true, they make pre electric product, but they also make a/s balms, which is what the afta name (IMO) is best known for.

afta comes in both a pre-shave and aftershave format. just look at the linked posted guys! come on, they have eyes but they do not see.

anywho. CVS also makes a good cheap aftershave. its more of a balm actually. it smells like a cross between brut and skin bracer. i like it. check it oot (http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/catalog/shop_product_detail.jsp?filterBy=default&skuId=606343&productId=606343&navAction=push&navCount=2&no_new_crumb=true).

I just think it is funny to have pre-shave products under the Afta brand name, which I can only assume stands for After. Couldn't they at least have called it Befo?

I just started using the CVS version of Mennen ASB. It's cheaper and works great. Been thinking about getting a generic version of Old Spice. I don't know if OS changed the formula but some of the store clones smell better.:001_rolle
