View Full Version : Dr Brooner - by golly, it IS invigorating!

Well.. I posted an inquiry awhile back for suggestions on invigorating body splashes.. Seemed Dr Brooners Peppermint got a few kudo's, so, being the way I always am, I go out and buy some... I didn't settle for the teeny 'trial' size.. NOOO , you all are my friends so I buy the huge industrial size bottle!

So, use it the first day.. love it!! 2nd day, I decide that the big ol bottle is kinda slick, and I am kinda old, so I decide to put ol Doc Brooner in the little metal holder that hangs on the side of the shower w/ suction cups. You all know where this is going!

So, sure enough, the little suction cups can't hold all 40 lbs of Doc Brooner (exaggeration.. writer's liberty). Here's where it get's kinda weird. The bottle falls straight down with enough force to shoot a stream of ol' Doc's invigorating peppermint soap directly into my right eye. For those of you who thought about using Doc Brooner's Peppermint Body Wash as an eye rinse, ....DO NOT DO IT!! I pain seared through my eye and head to the point that I'm immediately screaming in pain. I go running buck naked out of the shower screaming and crying like a baby (only the dogs were home, praise our good Lord) and I immediately douse a bottle or two of Murine in my eye.

Now, here's where it get's even funnier.. Now I look like a wet naked "Popeye wanna be" with one eye clinched shut, while trying to read the body wash bottle to assure ol' Doc Brooner doesn't add a dash of cajun pepper in his products.. I have not rinsed off the wash so it is now running down my body to ... well ... let's just say a more "private area" of my body where Ol' Dr Brooner had never ventured..... Folks, if you think Dr Brooner's Peppermint tingles in your tougher skin areas... you can only imagine what large amount of it running down the 'more sensitive skin' will do... I tingled for about 3 days and had a spring in my step that I haven't had since the days of Saturday Night Fever!

The good news.. after a 24 hour period, peppermint oil will totally wash out of one's eye.. but it takes about 72 hours for the tingle to leave "the twins"..

Warmly,
Wayne

Wayne - this is the most hilarious post I have read recently. I'm really glad you shared this as I started laughing quite loudly in my chair before I reached halfway through your post.

I've been meaning to get down to my local Whole Foods and pick up a bottle or two of the Dr. Bronner's liquid soap, but haven't done so yet. I'll be sure to keep your advice in mind when I do make the purchase.

Dr. Bronner's + Eye = bad
Dr. Bronner's + Naughty Bits = Tingly

Nice to see you around the board again, Wayne. Your presence here has definitely been missed. Feel free to pop in on The Anything Thread in the Barber Shop. A handful of us just post random things and hang out there.

Hope that MBA is going alright.

Doc. Bronner's good for cooling the twins off on a hot day :em2300: though I've yet to use it as an eye rinse :em18:. I cut the Peppermint with a little of the good Doctor's lavender soap for a very nice showering experience...shiggity it sounds like I'm talkin' about drugs instead of shower soap.:em3300:

The eye hurt like the dickens, but ... the other area felt 10 years younger! Wayne

Since the brooners soaps are so potent, it is always recommended to dilute them in water. I usually do a 50/50 mix.
