Strop Question

How do you a two piece strop that has a linen piece and a leather piece that has a smooth side and a rough side (do you use the rough side at all)?

If you smooth it out well with pumice then you can use it for touch-up paste.

It depends. Some strops have a reverse side that is finished rough and some have reverse sides that are unfinished. if its unfinished you probably can't use it at all. If its finished rough you can probably smooth it out and use it. Also some are really reverse strops and are designed to use the rough side as is.
