Hello All,
About two years ago, I started on a quest for the perfect shave. It started out harmlessly enough. I figured that my mediocre shave must be due to the canned foams and gels. So, I started using shave oils for a while. Not satisfied, I bought a tub of T&H West Indian Limes. What an improvement! Before that tub was done, I purchased another tub of T&H Trafalgar. Mezmerized by the Trafalgar sent, I quickly purchased the Trafalgar ASB and cologne.
Still not satisfied with the Mach 3 and smearing my T&H on my face with my fingers, I continued my search. I then discovered B&B and that is when my AD to support my quest for the perfect shave really took hold. Within about a forty-five day period of discovering B&B I purchased the following:
Merkur Vision D/E Set
T&H Luxury Shaving Soap
T&H Pre-shave Oil
Tabac Shaving Soap
Provence Sante Shaving Soap
Proraso Green Tube
CAR Pepermint Aftershave Conditioner
Guess what? I still want more! I want more razors(straights, D/E's, whatever), I want more soaps and I want another brush but I can not decide which one. Yes, I am an addict. I am also addicted to this site. I blame all of you here at B&B for my addiction. So, I figured why resist any longer.
I AM DEFINITELY GLAD TO BE HERE!

I've been here 4 weeks and so far I've managed to acquire 6 shaving creams, 4 soaps, 3 DE razors, one straight, 2 strops, about 150 DE blades, alum, 2 styptic pencils, a moss scuttle.... :001_rolle
And I'm still sitting here thinking I really need a Merkur slant bar, Proraso cream.........

Greetings, Bruce
Third Bruce: Blimey, it's hot in here, Bruce.
First Bruce: Hot enough to boil a monkey's bum.
Second Bruce: That's a strange expression, Bruce.
First Bruce: Well, Bruce, I heard the Prime Minister use it. "It's hot enough to boil a monkey's bum in here, Your Majesty," he said:devil:

Welcome Bruce,
How does it feel to actually be able to talk about your obsession? Even tough my beloved wife (MBW) knows I have always liked a good shave with brushed on lather, I never talked about it. However, I was always on the prowel for shaving soap when tagging along with her while she would shop at little specialty stores.

I don't like it. I LOVE IT!:001_tt1: The Vision itself is a very well balanced and highly engineered piece of craftmanship. I initially used Mekur blades with it and I was getting superior shaves from day one and did not think the shaves could get any better. Then....thanks to B&B, I discovered Feather blades. All I can say is WOW!
I like the brush also. For the first few weeks it lost about 1-2 hairs per shave. Now it never loses a hair. However, as I stated above and as you will probably find out for yourself, SBAD is a bad bad thing and I am of course in search of a new brush. Well it is not bad for me but my wife thinks I am going METRO with all my recent "product"(as she likes to call my gear) purchases. The brush is a nice value from what I have noticed in my search for another brush.
The bowl is a tad shallow and small. I, of course, am also in search of the perfect bowl/mug or mowl/bug.
One last note. If the vision is going to be your first D/E razor, don't be turned off if anyone says it is too aggressive for a beginner. My advice is buy it, start off with a low setting and go very slow. I did and I have not had a single problem.
Have Fun!

I've only being going at it for a couple of months and I'm addicted. I actually practice lathering when I have free time. Thanks for all the tips the users have posted.

Bruce,
You're in the right place. I lost count of how much I've spent on shaving related items in the past two months. You know you have it bad when you look through your stuff to see what you can sell so you can buy more, and better, stuff.
I noticed you're in Maine & in the Navy - NASB perhaps?

Welcome to WSA (Wet shavers anonymous)! Not all addictions are bad you know, least of all this one. Wait 'til your friends start telling you your skin looks younger...
