multiple pass shaves - fun poll

How many passes did you ever do during one particular shave? It doesn't matter if you were BBS afterwards or if your face got ripped. It also doesn't matter if it was a 'serious' shave or just an experimental shave for the sake of trying new techniques. My record is six passes and I won't ever do that again :biggrin:

My birthday shave this year was over an hour and 12 careful and gentle passes long. Excessive? yes. Extreme luxury: Most definitely!

Somewhere between 10 and 20 passes trying to get a decent shave out of a Derby. I lost......
Usually 3 passes are enough and with some blade/razor combo's even 2 do the job.

Three full face passes, but lots of touch up work following those. So probaby the equivalent of 4 or 5 passes. I voted 3 however.

Five passes is the tops I've gone and is my standard wanna get BBS shave. Three passes is my DFS and deletes on of the XTG passes.

One WTG pass
Two XTG passes (different directions)
One ATG blade buff
One ATG touch up in the areas I feel it's needed

Usually, four passes is my norm. However, if my blade is nearing end of life, I may take an extra "very light" pass to finish us the stragglers.

I did an experiment with trying high numbers of passes and I've used up to 6, but now I'm back down to 3.

(Normal shaving is 2 (XTG+ATG), on special occasions I still use the 4-pass technique)

WTG, WTG (at different pressure and angle), XTG in some places, ATG in others, XTG (at different pressure and angle), ATG (at different pressure and angle); Touchups in varying directions trying to figure out how to get those stubbron parts...I may have formed some figure 8s in there somewhere...

I normally do a three pass shave, but I got trapped into the "do it again Grampa" game this summer when my 3 year old granddaughter was watching me shave. I turned my slim down to one and did 7 passes before we found something else to do with Grammie.
