Noob question here. When wet shaving, do you guys keep the sink full of hot water, or just use the faucet to clean the blade between strokes?
I am about to start wet shaving and been using the crappy Mach3s in the shower for the past 5+ yrs.

I usually fill my sink about a quarter of the way. It leaves enough room for me to float my lather bowl (if I am using it) and room to slash my razor around to rinse it.
If I ran the water when I shaved, I would do nothing more than waste gallons.
I try to keep things as green as I can.

I keep the sink full. Seems like running the hot water continuously for rinsing the razor might be wasteful.
Good luck & keep the questions coming. The Shave Clinic and Newbie Checkin forum is a good place to ask for advice like this.

I just turn the faucet on with my free hand when I want to wash the razor off and then turn it back off again. You don't want your faucet running while you shave for two main reasons. 1. You want to hear the hairs on your face being cut. 2. It wastes lots of water.

I use the water in the sink method. Soon hope to have a pitcher and bowl stand so can do it right.

Faucet. I mainly use a straight so I'm not going to risk dinging it by dipping it in water. I don't keep the faucet running, just turn it on when I need it.

+1. Find something that works for you (ethically and practically) and use that method.

Same routine here, sink partially full to rinse off whiskers. Between passes when rinsing my face I keep the sink stopper engaged to capture the water for my next pass and repeat till smooth as silk.

I keep my lavatory about one third full and and turn the faucet on only if needed. Due to the contour of my lavatory it keeps a good depth and good surface area for using my lather bowl and rinsing my razor. I do rinse my razor, lather bowl (if used), brush, and lavatory as part of my clean up routine, with the water running, but this takes just a minute or so. I would love to take credit for being green, but alas, I have always shaved with a lavatory partially full of water.

Thanks Guys. Should have clarified that I wouldn't let the water run the entire time...just on to rinse the blade, then off.
I give my wife grief for leaving the water on while brushing her teeth :)

Yes and never leave the lavatory half full when tooth brushing. Seriously, that's a good question in this day of energy costs to keep the water heater full of hot water. I would second the point about turning the hot water on just when you need it to clean the head, as you want quiet to know when you've successfully cut through the whiskers. Even turning the radio down helps.
