I just received my Gillette Tech today. It is a beauty in fairly new condition. I am not sure if it was ever used. It states on the box "Gift of the American Red Cross. Not to be Sold", but I won it off ebay for $9.46

I've cleaned it and pictures are attached.

I am trying to date it.

There are no serial numbers on the razor. The middle piece (is that the bar guard has " REG US PAT OFF H 4" written on upper side of the box, and "Gillette" Made in US" embossed on the bottom part. The other side of this bar guard has "PAT NO. on Pkg" written on it.

I checked the package, but couldn't find any number. The only numbers I found were written on the inner flaps of the second smaller box that held the razor. It had 250-032 and 0161-12.

I checked the Gillette patent database at: http://www.geocities.com/safetyrazors/gil_ser2.htm, and it seems the I have a Tech produced in the fourth (4 code) quarter of 1962 (the H code).

Am I correct

Very nice! I picked up a gold one last week but haven't tried it yet. Probably take it for a spin tomorrow.

I did some research on the very same razor in same box and was told it was a gift from the American Red Cross given out to all the GI's during WWII. If so, wouldn't that date it to the early 1940's?.
