I bought a Razor and Strop combo in the BST last week. I haven't got the package yet, so I don't really know much about the strop yet except that it's Latigo with a "barbers end". What will I need to do to break in Latigo? Should I use some non abrasive paste or dressing? I don't believe it has a linen or canvas side to it. Do Latigo strops have two usable leather sides?

How does Latigo rate for strop usage? Is it good stropping leather?

Eric,

Unless the previous owner gooped it up with dressing or something it should be just fine. The Latigo usually picks up more draw with use and just rubbing with the hand before and after each use is the best thing you can do for it. I feel it is one of the best leather choices as it tends not to cup as easily as some other leathers do.
