Hello ALl- noob here about to take on a new addiction

Hello all,
I was browsing the inter-webs a few weeks ago and camew across a video on youtube of a gentleman extoling the virtues of wet-shaving.

Have you every been on youtube and kept clicking links that lead you quite aways from the topic you started with?

Wll, that's where I got. It then dawned on me that wet shaving was something I was very intrested in 10 years ago. With my 30th year approaching in 1 week, I've decided that it's high time I embark upon this journey.


I currently shave on Sunday mornings and then again on Wednesday or Thursdday. I use one of those Electric shapeup razors that the barbers use.
My barba doesn't grow fast enough to warrant sahving everyday with it because If I do, I'm in a world of hurt.



So.....now it's time to embrace wet shaving.

I've been reading up on the terms and techniques on straightrazorplace.com and some other sites and I realize there's a lot more I need to know.

Question for you guys, is there anyplace in Maryland that I can take my wife to for her to "sample" the various scents? She has a very sensite nose which I do not want to offend.:biggrin:

there should be and Art Of Shaving store in a Mall there some where, there scents are mainly, Lemon, Lavender and Sandalwood if you do go to one of them there soaps, creams lotions etc, are very good but pricey but never buy any hardware (razors, brushes) there.

Some major department stores carry Truefitt and Hill but they are getting harder to find.

I'm with you on getting lost on youtube. I can spend hours looking at the stupidest (read: pretty darn funny) videos.

Good luck finding a scent. You may want to go with unscented AOS cream. It ain't cheap, though.

Welcome to the mix, Maximus! My wife considers Lavender anything a good scent, Bay Rum with a Twist, the Nancy Boy Signature Scent, and TOBS St. James.

Thanks for the comments guys. I live in Laurel, MD and I found an a place in the stores section of this forum that's in College Park, MD.

It's only a 10-15 min ride from me so I'll swing by there today.

Crabtree and Evelyn is a good place to look. They also carry a fine brush, the C&E BBB for $35.00, that is often recommended as a starter brush. I have one and it is excellent for creams and soaps.

A number of stores sell Kiss My Face Shave creams, and those are available in a number of different scents. Check out the Body Shop as well. They make an excellent shave cream, but the scent is controversial around here.
