Does anyone know the year that the first HD was made? I wonder as I saw one in the Youtube movie of "Sink the Tirpitz."
Also, is the razor made of base metal with a nickel coating, or brass?
Thanks.

The handle is brass, the bottom plate, I think is pot metal

There was another thread about the Tirpitz clip on YouTube. Someone replied there and said that the HD was introduced in 1931.

It has been said here also that Merkurs are made from Zamak, a zinc-aluminium cast instead of brass.

I have a vintage slant that was silver plated. I don't know how long or when they made them.

I believe it is only the head that is Zamac.
