View Full Version : Art of Shaving Cream Consistency

So I ordered three AOS Creams and they arrived today. The Lavender and the Unscented are very thick and creamy while the Lemon is watery and very much a liquid (it is pourable). It seems to me that this is either a bum lot or someone has deliberately mixed water into a can that was used. But I could be wrong...
Can anyone tell me what the consistency and texture of the Lemon AOS cream should be? I was really looking forward to shaving with this stuff, but if it has been tainted and cut with Lord knows what...I will be returning it to drugstore.com.
Thanks!

I would suggest putting the Lemon cream in the fridge for a while. It could have just gotten too warm in the mail. See if that makes a difference, and go from there.

It seems odd that two of the cannisters that came in the same box would not exhibit the same symptoms. I have to assume that if there was sufficient heat to break down one of the creams, then the other two would be showing some sign of this trait as well. Nevertheless I will give your suggestion a try! Thanks!

As a follow up, I visited the AOS store locally and bought a new can of the Lemon and it certainly isn't the same as the stuff drugstore.com sent me. I thought about whether this stuff would have melted and realized that if this were an issue of melting, that the volume level would not have been to the top of the can. If this stuff had melted it would have been at least a third lower in volume to account for the air loss since this stuff is really whipped. This tells me that someone tampered with it to make it appear that it was full when it was not (for whatever reason).
Heads up...be careful when ordering stuff from drugstore.com. I'll be sending mine back.

FWIW, my AoS Lemon SC from beautyhabit.com was of the same consistency as you describe for your Lavender and Unscented SCs.
It may not be tainted, it may just be old stock or just a little "off" in manufacturing. In any case, sending it back sounds like a good idea.
