View Full Version : do all gillette slim razors close with a half turn?
i have two gillette slim razors one has a date code of I1 which is in decent shape as well as a great looking slim of date code M1. the slim dated M1 does not seem to close like my other one in that it tightens on the blade but does not allow for a locking "half turn". it tightens up the blade then seems to freeze when trying to lock the blade in place. is this normal? and if not is there an easy fix. my M1 slim is visually in much better shape.
thanks, cb

I have had that problem wiht a couple of slims and a fatboy. I put some oil (grapeseed is what I had on hand but many use mineral oil) down the center shaft from the top and started opening and closing for a few minutes. I then put it in from the bottom and did the same thing. I then closed the doors and gave it a little shake. One or two looked like the center piece on the bottom might have been hitting the side so I just gave it a little push and tried opening it and closing it. Not sure if that last part helped but they now close and open perfect.
i tried some oil but unfortunately that did not seem to be working so i used wd 40 which has completely solved the problem.
