Let's see the scores for the week.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Please post all score-type posts in this thread as opposed to cluttering up the forum.
Going forward, we'll be merging all threads into the general score thread - unless there happens to be a reason for a separate thread (for example, to discuss receipt of the B&B essential, or something along those lines).
Thanks guys.

Found this one Saturday for $2 in an antique store. Looked on the link to identify it and looks like a 1948 or 1949 mug. How cool is that?

I picked this up this weekend. I saw a few postings on it. I figure it was 1 of those ideas that came to be but the reality of the blade moving horizontally with the down stroke and the pressure needed to activate the roller would be a quick trip to the doc. It was 22 karat gold platted.

Here's a pic of mine which I've also posted in last weeks acquisition. I picked this one up at a local antique shop. It appears to be the "Early Glass Mug 05" made from the late 1950's to 1960. See how this one has notches on the inside to keep the puck of soap from spinning while lathering. Nothing like a nostalgic shave mug!

I'm a lavender nut however, and if it is extra special I may have to procure some

Will do, Sir. The recent Lavender Shave Soap thread reminded me that AOS and eShave's offerings were on my list of things to try.

My Savon de Marseille soaps came in. I ordered the 4 pack w/ crushed flowers in it. I originally purchased it to be used as a gift for a later date. Well too bad for whom ever I might have given it to. This soap smells incredible! :w00t: I had to fight my two daughters for soap rights when I opened the box. The packaging is plain and boring, a plain box with the soap wrapped in plain white paper. No show stoppers here but the product is what I am interested in and if the scent is any indication of performance..... I will not be disappointed.

This beautiful razor just kind of fell into my lap - a perfect mint Coronation (1953) #66 Aristocrat with a box in good to fine condition.
There was a blade in the razor which otherwise showed no sign of use and fortunately left no marks or damage. The blade was dated Y1 which makes it the first quarter of 1953 the coronation year.

Well it's a bit of a yarn, but if you're sitting comfortably...
As I only have vintage gillettes in my small collection I decided the time had come to buy a Merkur. I gave myself a budget :001_smile and started looking but then browsing the bay I spotted the #66 which at that time in the auction was very obviously underpriced. So in the last 30 seconds I bid my Merkur budget on the #66. Of course my modest bid was seriously sniped but an hour or so later the seller contacted me to give me a second chance at my bid price because the top bids had fallen through. It was a tiny bit of a risk because the pics weren't so good but I seem to have done quite well! However very sadly I still don't have a Merkur.

I just got this today (won it last week but it arrived this morning). It's a reasonably decent condition razor, but the handle is cracked quite badly (as you can see). My apologies for the blurry photo but my digital camera doesn't seem to like taking photos of things up close (oh well, I skimped on the camera to justify my other hobbies. :tongue_sm )
Not sure if I will use the razor itself (I may leave it in storage) but the case and blade case will be useful for one of my newer Gillette DEs if I go travelling.

It's been a good week. Yesterday the postman delivered 50 NOS Vintage Wilkinson Sword blades - supposedly from 1974 but no way as far as I know of confirming that - does any one know any better?
I tried one in my new #66 Aristocrat this morning (from the least mint looking pack just to be sure of their condition) - a wonderful shave, unbeatable for sharpness and smoothness: I'm truly stoked :001_smile

Scored the right hone off ebay for about $45. The left is a new Müller Thüringer for comparison. From what I've felt the vintage one is even smoother. It came with a broken razor which is basically junk. Notice the broken English.

Found some really good deals at the almost local perfumery (what's it called?). Both of them for about $20 (which is really cheap for Norway).
It may not look that way, but the A/S is 30 ml and the soap is 75 ml. Perfect for travel :)

Nice Ray! I really want a Brazilian. I watched a gold one find it's way out of my budget on ebay this morning, and a lot of the gold appeared to be worn...
I just got this vintage brass brush handle today, ripped the boar out of it and threw in some fresh badger. A lot smaller than I expected, but I think it looks nice. Too bad I could not set the knot deeper, that would have been perfect.

I also got 180 more Red Personas

Okay fellas, here's what I got yesterday at my wife's grandpa/ma's auction. I was perusing the piles of junk when I found this Gillette razor, with case and original blade case with the bristle brush. Granted the case needs a little bit of cleaning and the razor will need a dunk in scrubbing bubbles and barbicide to get it ready for use, but all in all it looks to be in pretty good shape.
Here's my question, can anyone help me identify exactly what model this is? There's a picture of the back of the case with a bunch of numbers that I'm not yet able to decipher - can anyone help me out? I.e. model/year/any other interesting tidbits? Oh, and since i've never had an adjustable, what's the difference/scale of the numbers? any suggestions for use?
Oh but here's the kicker - anyone wanna guess what I paid for this little find? 50 cents, that's right 1/2 of $1. I'll be sure to show you some pictures of it when I get it all cleaned up. Thanks gents and enjoy!

a light scrubbing of soap with a soft toothbrush on the case followed by some turtle wax will really make it look like new.

That's a nice price on a Slim adjustable. The date code is on the back of the razor under the Gillette logo -- there should be a letter (capital H, I, J, for example) and then a number. The letter indicates the year and the number indicates the quarter for the razor's born-on date.
You can get some information on dating the razor here:
http://www.geocities.com/safetyrazors/gil_ser2.htm and here http://www.creekstone.net/razors/
The number one on the adjustable dial is the least aggressive setting and the number nine is the most aggressive setting. I recommend using a low setting for your first shave with the razor and adjusting to higher settings after that.
I only change the number settings on my adjustable razors when the silo doors are open -- not closed.

I'm still new to collecting, but I'll tell you what I think.
I have that razor myself and it's called a Segal Unitary. Unless Schaffer sold the same razor under a different name (Like Kent selling MWF soaps as Kent soap) someone stuck a Segal into that box (perhaps unintentionally).
The head on mine is rather poorly finished and I think that was common. I don't think these are very sought after either, I paid about $15 for mine with the box here on the B/S/T.
The other thing is that todays DE blades won't fit the head on this shaver unless you were rather skilled with a Dremel or something and attempted to enlarge the holes in a blade. I haven't tried that myself, and the poor finish makes me think I probably never will. There are plenty of other razors I've never tried, this one would be alot of work and I doubt it would be that great anyways.
Sorry for the 'somewhat' poor news. On the other hand, I do think it was a rather unique design and it's interesting to see what other ideas companies had attempted back when. I like mine next to my Stahly, Durham Duplex and the Rolls Razor. They're all interesting little beasties.

Not a bad week I guess. Here's a little of what I got:
Federal Razor's Simplex Military Razor issued during WWII, new in box with cardboard headcover still in place. Note the flat black to avoid reflection. The head is steel while the base plate is plastic.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj307/AsylumGuido/BulldogHaul004.jpg
And here we have a 1920 Old Style Silver Bulldog. When I found it I got excited because it was almost jet black so I knew it was silver, not nickel plated. A little Flitz polish and it is a show piece! Can't wait to use it.

The others are a 1968 Slim Adjustable, a 1951 black tip SS and a truly amazing Frankenrazor with an Old Type handle and an early Tech head. Finally a sweet 1953 40's style SS finishes it off.
