Any other Mythbuster's fans on here? I'm really ticked off that they rescheduled the season premier 85 MINUTES BEFORE it aired...and they are still showing commercials for the new episode...bah...I was really looking forward to "viral hour" :frown:

It's a pretty cool show. My favorite episode is the one with the Hungarian Tree Cannon.

That episode was awesome! My favorite though is the one where they blew up the cement truck and there was nothing left of it...

I wish I would grow a mustache like that! I wonder if they are taking applications for anything related to Mythbusters...

Awesome show. Got to see Adam and Jamie live at a show they did in Thousand Oaks, Ca. They were exactly like they are on camera. And it was great to see young kids interested in science. They were the most enthusiastic about asking them questions.

I watched it several years ago while I was home on a visit and really liked the show. Then, on one of my most recent trips home I saw it again and saw that the show had greatly expanded and there were a lot of new people on the show. Personally, I didn't care for the new set up and the new people. Besides that, I think the show is amazing.

Great show - very entertaining and, as stated above, is great for kids as it teaches them to question things.
My 7 year-old loves it.

My kids and myself watch it all the time. I like how they research the myth then usually take it 1 step further. Like with the cement truck can you clean out solid concrete with an explosion. I guess not-so lets make the cement truck disappear.

I love the show, but I sometimes question whether they've really busted the myths when it seems they could have done more research (can't think of any ideas off of the top of my head, but there have been one or two times I've watched and they've declared something busted and I thought, wait a second...). I've got to admit that I loved it when they put the loaded 44 in the oven...BLAM! That was just too cool!

I agree. They busted at least one that my father witnessed. (drive shaft polevault) He was in pursuit of an "old dodge" with a bunch of drunks in it one night in the early 60's when it happened. He said, one minute he was chasing taillights, there was a sudden shower of sparks from under the car, and the next thing he knows, the taillights jump up in the air, and the headlights appeared from underneath. The car skidded quite a ways on it's roof before coming to a stop. Nobody was seriously injured but they were all burned here and there. The car was toast of course.
Some of those old cars had really heavy driveshafts. It would be a one in a million shot, but I know it happened at least once.

Very true. I remember one I had to question. They were testing to see if you really could pull the rear axle off of a car with a cable like in the movie American Grafitti. They tried, but with a current model police cruiser. I wonder if the would have gotten the same results had they used the same model of car as in the movie.

One of the best shows on TV right now. My TV is stuck on the Discovery Channel, National Geographics, The Science Channel, etc...

Sort of a press release: my Mom works for NASA and the Mythbusters team visited her Center last January; it's finally airing next week.
'Mythbusters' to debut NASA-themed episode Wednesday, Aug. 27
The popular television science series "Mythbusters" is set to premiere a
NASA-themed episode that includes experiments conducted at the Marshall
Center. The episode -- which seeks to bust myths espoused by critics who
think NASA faked the Apollo moon landings -- will air Aug. 27 at 8 p.m.
CDT on the Discovery Channel.
The hour-long program will repeat Aug. 28 at 12 a.m. and 9 p.m., and
Aug. 29 at 1 a.m.
"Mythbusters" hosts Grant Imahara, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci visited
the Marshall Center last January. They spent two days conducting and
filming tests in the center's world-class vacuum chambers in Building
4619. They were aided in the tests by team members from the Engineering
Directorate's Experimental Fluids and Environmental Test Branch.

I can just imagine growing up in your house... how often did you hear "Ya don't have to be a rocket scientist to .... " as a kid?!? :yikes:
But, very cool.... I'll definitely catch the episode.

While I love the show I can not stand Kari. I think her and the girl from that worthless 'engineering' show that was around last season should both go jump off a very tall cliff.
I could also watch How Its Made and Some Assembly Required for hours.

Shoot, before they started making soap, they were both in the space industry. It was neat getting to tag along sometimes to the experiments and testing labs. Usually at night. :001_smile

The show is fun but they went off of the 2 stars and started featuring the bit players way way too much. Although I love Kari.

I don't know a whole lot about Tory, but Grant has an amazing background and should totally be an equal partner, imho. He's a big name in robotics and one of a very few who haev operated / are allowed to operate R2D2.

Grant is brilliant but belongs as their main go to guy. Tory is annoying. Kari is too but she is hot so I do not mind.

Hard to say. We're still working on it -- and it takes a while between changes, since we (that is, Dad) makes a cold-process batch of solid pucks and cream soap every now and then, and then we test, and think of what we might change, tinker with essential oils or clay levels in the cream base...it is taking a while. We'll get there. But as always, thanks for the interest/pressure -- it's nice to tell Dad we've got an eager audience.

Good luck on the continued progress! Any idea on the scents that might be in the eventual pipeline? Vanilla Burbon (seen on another site as a cream-soap) sounds interesting... I wonder if you can get a DUI for shaving?

Just wanted to bump this thread to remind everyone the moon-landing conspiracy theory episode (I'm soooooooo looking forward to that one being thoroughly and hilariously busted) is scheduled to air tonight (9pm ET/PT, Discovery Channel)

IMHO the show is interesting, but rather slow. I like to learn stuff, but sometimes they put too much drama on the develpment of the experiment. Several discovery programs used to have the same defect. In the end, I felt they were more like reality shows.
