My wife bought me a mint or close to mint Gillette Slim M 4 date code, in case, with manual, original 2 blade dispenser (with original blades) for $3, what a great deal! Razor looked like it was used maybe once or twice if that. Super shiny, no plate loss, no staining, no scratches, nothing! Everything is perfect! She bought it at some junk store. I'm pretty happy today.
that sounds great! You should go there again to see what other shaving stuff you can find.

Went back to the store my wife was in and bought another razor she wasn't sure about buying, again it was a Gillette "made in England" with original red leather box, with Gillette in gold lettering embossed on the front of the case. Has original manual. Inside it has ivory silk lining on the inside cover and red velvet where the razor is. It came with an empty Gillette 10 pack Blue Blade dispenser. The razor is silver, one piece, I think it's one of those rodium plated razors, non adjustables? It has a fat handle, Brit Pat. 694093. Not sure what razor it is, since I don't know too much about Gillettes made in England besides the Rocket. Anyway It's also barely used and looks close to mint. looks like a possible Diplomat razor.

This Pat.No. is from the 50s or 60s like Rocket, Rocket HD, Super-Speed. Please post some pictures!

That's a #58 (picture courtesy of Achim.) If so, that's two real nice scores from one shop. Well done.

I know the feeling. Sounds like you are describing my mint Fatboy that I got about a year ago. The seller said it was never used. That may be impossible to prove, but looking at the razor it was hard to suggest that it had ever shaved anyone else before

Here is the razor I got, I have the manual, but not in picture. Also didn't photograph the adjustable since they are so common, it has the standard clear arrow shaped case, with black background design, came with the standard manaul printed about 1967 with the black and light blue lettering. And standard black and white Gillette two blade metal and plastic dispenser.
The shop I was at doesn't seem to price razors accordingly. They are just priced as whatever, (regardless of style, condition or razor model/type) "inny, minnie, moe" style. I got the mint Adjustable with manual and case for $3, yet an uncased, no manual, blue tip aluminum handled Super Speed in average shape was $8. Then I got a WWI open combed 3 piece razor, with typical cracked handle for $3, but same razor in a crappy case was selling for $35? Shick razors were going for $1-3, mostly injectors. The British Razor in very nice case, with manual, blade dispenser, barely used $35 a fair price I think for that one. But I bet if the razor didn't have a case but same barely used condition, would probably sell for $3-8, go figure?
Here is the British Razor pic, what is it? Thanks.
That is what we call an awesome find. I am so jealous!

Yep, it looks like a #58 to me. I'd say $35 is a better than good deal especially since it looks so good. Stay in touch with that dealer and don't tell anybody where it is.

So, how much is the razor really worth? To me, after I cleaned the soap scum off, it looks like near mint or very close to mint. Again, no plating loss, no scratches, very shiny, never dropped, nothing is bent or anything.

Searching the BST Forum should give you a good idea of the current market around here. I think it's safe to say that your purchase price is seriously low. But why not use it? It's a cool looking razor with a good rep.
