.....Actually she's my shoot coordinator. I hate downtime during shoots so whenever a model is in hair and makeup she sits in for me to keep the creative juices flowing and to relieve my boredom.

I agree and I keep her there as much as possible. It's really common when I'm sorting photo's after a shoot for my favorites to be the informal shots she and I did together while waiting for the models to be ready for the *real* shoot.

I love *all* women, but have also always been a bit partial to brunettes!

You have a gift!

I must be way too interested in photographic technique. The first thing I noticed about this photograph was the Hasselblad.
I then wondered about the focal length of the lens used for the picture, took note of the DOF and the lighting ratio, wondered about the stuff on the floor and whether it added or detracted, decided that I liked the modified Rembrandt lighting, wondered whether the darks on the top and right side of her head were blocked up, decided that it didn't matter because it worked. Wondered if it wouldn't have been better in monochrome, decided that it likely would have been, but the picture is essentially monochromatic in any event. I then wondered what film would be best if it were done with film in monochrome and I decided on Pan F Plus processed in D-76 should work out well but wondered if old style Adox would be even better than Pan F Plus.
I then decided that I liked the photograph.
I then read some of the comments and realized that other people looked at the photograph differently than I did.
I then decided that it is very likely that I'm a geek.

Great post! We think a lot a like. Your reward for taking the time is a B&W photo from this session. I went back and forth and ultimately decided the desaturated versions best suited the mood I was trying to convey:

Thanks, your post made me smile. I think you made a very good choice: this one works very well in B+W, very well indeed.
So here I am, looking at the new photograph, wondering if the modified loop lighting works as well as the Rembrandt or whether this is more like Rembrandt than I originally thought and thinking the soft shadow on the right cheek works beautifully, but that perhaps the shadow under the hair on the left cheek doesn't work as well and then deciding that it works very well, and then thinking that perhaps dodging the top of the head and using some Farmers Reducer on the edge of the right arm and right knee, would be better or worse, and thinking that perhaps using a condenser enlarger with a diffusing filter on just the face would be better than a Dichroic head and then of course recalling that this is digital and realizing that yes indeed, once a photography geek always a photography geek.
Lovely young woman by the way. Both images have a timeless look. I have a notion that she will be very happy to have this image 40 years from now.
Like everything of yours that I've seen, this one is top notch. Thanks very much for posting your work - I really like what you do. I would love to have images like this one in my portfolio.

As it happens I don't. Your photographs really are great.
Much of my stuff consists of photographs of things like darkroom trays, powdered chemicals, enlarger lenses, tripods; that kind of thing. I pull down all the blinds, put the phone on do not disturb, turn the lights down low, light a candle or two and look at those pictures. And only when my wife is out of town.
 Me too.
... have you ever, ever noticed the Hasselblad in my photo of Lexa?

Were I an ESL student reading this I would be certain that Hasselblad = sexy.
Those really are sexy shots, both technically and aesthetically. You're lucky to have someone so comfortable in front of your camera. I really like that she hasn't developed the jaded model look of put-on drama. She's just there holding the sexy. That's cool.
