Have any of you guys ever forgone or stopped mid shave just because the air temperature in the room was too hot?

I usually enjoy shaving after a long run, but tonight I found it was just too hot to shave after my shower. I started my shave with my merkur classic with a feather blade and found that it was not enjoyable. Not because of the equipment, just because of the heat. I had to stop after two passes because I couldn't stop sweating.

Maybe I should have the air conditioner on, but as a graduate student I don't have loads of money. I was just wondering if anyone here has had this problem. Stopping a shave because by either environment or our faults it was not enjoyable.

I have given up on my final touch up pass because I felt the burn coming on. I don't think I would quit if I still had patches of stubble that were visible though.

Shave before you shower. That's what I do when summer hits. I'm usually sweating halfway through and its the best solution I've found.

Additionally, you might try this:

Not really visible stubble. I will have to shave in the morning; no biggie. I have been looking at the cold water thread today it seems interesting and I might have to try it.

I spent half of my summer in Gulfport, MS (smack in the middle of the Gulf Coast, about 1/2 a mile from the beach).......and it goes without saying, it's humid and hot as hell down there.

I found that sometimes it would be a bit too hot by the time I got out of the shower, splashed more hot water on, and shaved. Literally, I could feel myself sweating after the second pass, and at that point, I "know" it's going to be a bad shave, but feel like I have to finish. One of my worst shaves occurred in Gulfport this summer.

Hot, humid weather really does make for a bad shave. Never really noticed before, but when your shaves are taking a little more time, you can really begin to feel these effects.

Yes, definately try rinsing your razor in ice water instead of warm water. I was astounded by the improvement in shave quality and comfort.
