i probably wont post in this forum much being im a low key person, but this score was awesome. im mostly a SE razor person as most people know, so my gillette list is very picky and very short. theres 5 gillette razors i want:

double ring
old type
sheraton
silver new standard
senator

and now thanks to my ebay savvy  ..........i now have the top 4 licked:

1922 silver new standard (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170239907654&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:1123)

Recieved on Friday morning from Edwin Jagger (order placed late Wednesday afternoon)
EJ Chatsworth DE in imitation ivory
Tube of Sea Buckthorn (EJ) Shave cream
Sample of sandlewood cream.

Also the news that Edwin Jagger are introducing an 'aftershave lotion' in a 'smart glass pump action dispenser', available in the same fragrances as the cream and soaps range.

Another good week in southwest Montana!

A really gorgeous red/brown and deep green Bakelite Rollistic shaving bowl with a screw on lid in fantastic condition. A really beautiful piece that I bought to use, but now am not so sure I want to.

The Schick blades are from a vintage blade swap that I think I unintentionally got the better end of. 12 Schick Super Chromium's!! Wowee!

The 195 is from last week and was so notable I figure it gets a few weeks of score status.

I scored several things today.
An american button co gillette with case, pretty good condition: $6.00
A cooper open comb, hinged de razor. Is this worth anything? $6.00
And the weirdest one, that may not be worth much but very nastalgic, an "automatic vibro-shaver" black palm sized handle, winds with a key on the back, push a button on the side and it vibrates. $6.00 Sorry, no pics for a while, but if anyone has pics or links for the last 2 or pricing info, please reply. Thanks.

I went on the hunt again today to some area antique shops. I went to a town abought 30 miles from my home that I go to several times a month to look for new finds. I went to the first of the 3 that I go to and struck out. I usually drive down the street to the other 2 but decided to walk instead and just happened to notice a new antique shop had opened in the middle of the block. It is so small that you ca hardley see that there is a store there. They had a few glass display cases and in the first was 4 old blades for $3. I checked out the rest of the shop but came up empty and went back to case to get the blades. I grabbed them and I noticed out of the corner of my eye a case behind this one with a bunch of stuff on top so you couldn't really see inside. I saw the words "gillette blades" and moved the suff over and my eyes popped out of my head when I saw this beauty. My wife looked at me and asked if I was ok. She thought I was going to have a heart attack. I opened the case and took it out to look at the tag and it was priced at a whopping $6. I couldn't get to the counter to pay fast enough. Whe I got to the car I checked the date code and it is an E1. I asked the owner if he had more and he said he thought he might have some more at home and is going to check for me. This is the only one that I have found that is near mint with a case with no cracks and the instructions. I don't even have to use any scrubbing bubbles on this one. It is so nice to see one in this shape with such a sweet shine to it and totally black numbers. Oh, and I won't be shaving with this one.
Sorry about the bad pic but I just walked in the door and wanted to show everyone.

Thanks,
Walter

07-26-2008, 08:01 PM
Well I scored two odd razors today.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x300/Hoos1492/07-26-08Razors.jpg

One is the Brevet - that oval-shaped thing on the left. The owner and I got to talking about razors, he pulled this out from his desk, and we goofed around with it for a few minutes. He graciously sold it to me for $10 because I appreciated it.

The Brevet is a wind-up razor, that works with a clockwork-type mechanism, with a rotating blade system underneath the mesh. The case is clear acrylic so you can see the "guts". The razor is in great shape and actually works - I shaved half my face at the antique store. The shave was pretty darned good, too. Smooth and no raw feeling that I get from electrics. The Brevet apparently was made in Monaco (says so on the back) in the 1950s. There's not much else on it that I can find. Any info you might have on it or the company would be appreciated. They gentlemen that sold it to me didn't have any info - he found it in an estate sale about 20 years ago and just held onto it for novelty's sake.

The other razor is a Gillette - but there are no safety bars! They were not sawed off or otherwise removed - the edges are perfect. The top plate slightly hangs over each side - maybe 1/8". I did some searching and didn't see any others like it. It's a Gillette made in the U.S., but no date codes or patent nos.

Well, I am waiting for boxeS of razors to be delivered to my door. They should have been delivered Friday!
Sat. went to a flea market and found 4 razors all in cases. 1 Gillette fat handle tech, 1 Gem G bar and 2 Schicks. Then in the evening the doorbell rings and I see the Fed Ex truck and I run to the door like a kid on Christmas and see the guy standing there with 1 box. I quickly ask "Only one?" He basically says "Chill out there's more coming" So minus the four flea market finds here is Box #1 of 5.

The Heineken was to aid in the cleaning. I seem to get more help to polish when there is beer around!

I just recently returned from my recent trip to the Azores and scored a couple of creams and some Gillette blades.

Lea is a Spanish brand product. Didn't have any knowledge of it but it was cheap.

The Palmolive came in a buy 1 get 1 free package so I actually have two of these.

The Lavanda cream is made by Ach Brito, the same manufacturer of Musgo Real.

Not sure if the Gillette blades are the same as the Swedes but at $4 per pack it was worth a shot. The back of the package indicates Switzerland. If anyone can chime in as to whether these and the Swedes are the same please do so.

Best part of all all this cost $14.

Azores was very nice, Henrique.

Went there for my wife's cousin's wedding so this was my first time visiting.

Visited S.Jorge, S. Miguel and Terceira. Also made a quick visit to Faial.

Each island was nice and different in it's own way.

I was hoping to find some leftover Musgo Real but not much luck.

Still, I am happy with what I did find.

The "Swedes" say Platinum hardened edges on the package, I don't think these do. On the other hand, the blue 5-pack does look similar and the Swedes are also called Gillette Platinum.
