Does anyone else get terribly strong food cravings? My normal on is ice cream and tonight it is so bad I had to tell Chip to keep driving. I still tried to convince him he wanted some too on the way home so he would stop. The only real thing that stopped me was the fact I was so full of home made Mediterranean and bbq chicken pizza.

When it come to ice cream it normally can't have fruit in it. For me it ruins the experience unless it is combined with chocolate. A great many of things are good with chocolate!

Ice Cream for my wife too. I am really into Lay's Sea Salt and Vinegar Kettle-Cooked Chips! YUM!:tongue_sm

I will eat them on the way into my triple bypass.

Hmm... I suppose that occasionally I will have slight cravings for a modest helping of a certain 5-holed, steam-grilled, oniony, beefy, mouth-watering, colon-destroying SLYDERS!!!! OH MY GOD I MUST HAVE 30 RIGHT NOW!!!!

Some cravings are indicators of nutritional deficiencies (crunching on ice habitually, and eating dirt--"geophagy"--are both indicators of iron deficiencies, IIRC), but ice cream...well, I dunno; are you getting enough calcium? :001_smile

I think that sometimes, some foods are "just right", it's true, but I'm not a big sweets person. Though, I'm pretty sure that tater tots would be my ticket to a bypass surgery if I didn't only eat them (or french fries) once a week. Yikes.

Are you sure you don't crave limes, Mrs. Chip? :w00t:

Are they in the form of ice cream....with chocolate?

I have noticed over time that mosts men crave salt and women crave sweets but my father loves sweets and mom loves salt. lol

I used to chew on ice all the time, had to stop cause of my teeth. I think I'll have to assume I don't get enough calcium. Then that means I can have all the ice cream I want. Great justification.
...now to find the justification for all that chocolate sauce.

Now I have a craving for ice cream. I hope my wife's not pregnant and I hope the kids get married first.

Chocolate contains antioxidants.

Oh and I have a Doritos problem. I have to stay strong every time I pass the chip aisle at the supermarket.

They must make a chocolate sauce with calcium in it. Either that or chocolate sauce makes the calcium supplement taste better. Yeah, that's it...

Darn! I am out of chocolate sauce. I'll have to eat my ice cream plain.

...A great many of things are good with chocolate!

As St. Teresa of Avila is reputed to have said, "God and Chocolate is better than God alone!"

We get those about once a month at work. Several crave cases worth of delicious, delectable sliders. But the after effects... Beyond the capability of mere words to describe.

No chocolate sauce, but good thing I had that trail mix in my wallet (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showpost.php?p=675912&postcount=3).

My mama always retained her ice cream appetite, which was the only thing she found cruel about being diabetic.

I get seasonal ones. The current (summer) ones: I can't get enough watermelon. Other than watermelon, everything must have hot sauce right now, and I'd prefer Mexican food 3 meals a day. :w00t:

I get intense cravings for extra rare filet mignon, beef carpaccio, and raw tuna.

Edit: Looking at my list, I think I might be a vampire.

I crave crispy barbacoa tacos with roasted chili corn salsa, sour cream, cheese, and lettuce from Chipotle (accept no substitutes!) all day, every day. No joke.

That is a devastating craving, my friend.

I can think of more than a few occasions where my good friend and I would just leave Worcester well past 11pm and head to 8th ave in NYC to hit up White Castle.

Night before finals -- what better place to study than the road to/from White Castle?

mmmmmmm..............

mmmm, that would work for me too. The chocolate in the trail mix is what does it. But think of the possibilities for ice cream.... add caramel, cookie crumbs, hot chocolate powder...it is endless.

If I could have real food, 'healthy' food cravings it wouldn't be so bad. Like Chip yesterday. He was able to get Angus NY strip and rib eye with no second looks. It is part of a regular meal...it's own food group. I tried to convince him that ice cream is the main item in the dairy group.

ohhhh white castle jalapeno cheeseburgers...

my REAL craving though is wings. Every so often i just HAVE to have good wings. if i have crappy wings, we have to go out again shortly thereafter.

Oh, and scotch. Once in a while, I get that craving to drink peat moss... and the best way to do that is with a good single malt. :)

MacDonald's double cheeseburgers
They're awful. I KNOW they're awful. But every once in a while I just gotta have one.

Club sandwiches. There used to be as restaurant called Kara's on Queen St. East in Toronto, that made the best club sandwich in the universe, with enough bacon and not too much chicken and mayo on the side where it should be. Kara's is gone now, but Fran's at Yonge and Bloor does a pretty good one.

All of a sudden I'm dying for a club sandwich

You're not missing anything. Those Sliders are utterly revolting. That, and they do bad, bad things to a person. Be happy you won't accidently ingest that stuff. . .

I don't normally crave any one specific thing, but I do often crave a particular category: ethnic food (usually asian or slavic) fairly often. My current crave is Thai, but I'd be almost willing to kill for a good borscht (polish style) or mazo ball soup also.

edit: oh, and I do have a seasonal craving for lime... whether as a scent (shaving soap, cologne, splash) or as a food (mojitos, caipirinhas, squeezed over fish, etc.)

I have a friend in Portland (No White Castles) that I taunt mercilessly about his taste for sliders. I live less than a 3 minute drive from one, and go once a year to remind myself why I only go once a year.

As for my cravings, I have several, the two strongest being honey roasted peanuts and cookies. Not just any cookies, though. The only packaged cookie that I will eat with any regularity are Oreos (especially the Mint Oreos, or the Christmas edition white chocolate dipped ones......:w00t:). My craving lies in big, soft, chewy bakery fresh cookies, only slightly smaller than a manhole cover. Type doesn't matter: chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, white chip macadamia, etc. I could easily clear a dozen in one sitting.

Oh, the odd thing; despite my cookie craving, I can't stand drinking milk. It has been a minimum of 10 years since I have consumed any type of liquid milk. I love cooking with it; love creamy sauces, but cannot stand drinking it.

He got an angus strip and a ribeye? That sounds like my kind of meal...

I often get cravings for sushi. There is one place in Raleigh that I have to go. Warashi. Any other place and I just have to make another trip.

Ahhh, borscht... my Baba made such good stuff. It seems to be the one thing I don't have success cooking, my beets go light pink!?

Lime craving huh?....hmm, must be why you get along with Chip so well.

I use the bottled beet juice. I never had success at cooking them either and can't stand the smell anyhow.

God help me; the cheesy, crunchy Gordita things Taco Bell sells. The ones with the hard shell taco stuffed inside a soft pita outer shell with cheese slathered in between the two. You wouldn't have caught me dead in a TB until they invented these heavenly treats. :001_tongu
