i gather plisson makes brushes with the rarest materials and so on? i kinda like the eshave razors too. so i'm left with creams and aftershaves. are the 3t's luxurious enough or are there products you find that are a better representation of luxury? btw you are more than welcome to refute my choices for brush and razor.

T&H 1805 is luxury to me. Also, Taylor's luxury-branded St. James is very nice as well.

+1; I'll just add AOS and - what has been a discovery for me - The Body Shop shaving cream (a very interesting experience).

I've never used a Plisson (far too much expensive for my payroll), but I really like the Kent (BK4 or BK8), the Edwin Jagger Silvertip, the Rooney Silvertip or, if you like really soft brushes, the Vulfix 2235.

As for the razors, I'll say luxury is: a Wade & Butcher 7/8, a Le Grelot 6/8 or a historical framed back TI - with a Tony Miller strop and a few natural waterstones to hone it. :em2200:

Only my 2 cents.

What are you looking for a luxurious shave or the most expensive shave products? If its the high $$ value products you are looking for then to me Penhaligons, Floris, Dr.Harris shave products would fit the bill.

It sounds to me like your looking for the most expensive shave products. Something equivalent to a Rolls Royce, Bentley, or McLauren.

Aqua di Parma
Santa Maria Novella
Floris
Czech & Speak
Penhaligon's
Creed

I'd just like to say that high price does not necessarily equate to 'best'. There are truly exceptional products in all price ranges. HoneyBee_Spa soaps at under $4 are a good example; you can't do better regardless of cost. Get a 'good' razor, a fine Silver Tip shave brush, and save high-dollar luxury for your EdT's and post shave products.

I'll say it again: Technique is more important than 'stuff'.

Happy shaving! :w00t:

luxury isnt money, its confort, and as far i care, you can scrape Aqua di parma from there, the cologne is nice and worth its price, the shaving supplies are not,

on the other hand, shaving supplies from castle forbes are very nice and do justify their price,

I "Taylors of Old Bond Street" shaving cream better then "Truefitt & Hill" and it's half the price. Price doesn't alway equate with value.
I find the the humble puck of Williams soap gives luxury equal to soaps costing many times more.

I have spent a fortune on more tubs of shaving cream than i care to mention. Its got to the point that i have had to buy a new cabinet to store all my collection. However i can say with all honesty that the best yet is Vulfix Lime Shaving Cream. It is absolutely brilliant and a bargain price from Tk Max.
Ive tried Proraso and thought it was pants and cannot think for the life of me why so many people rave on about it. Ingram what costs about 1 pound is better.

i didn't mean high price but interesting brands came up that i didn't even know had shaving products. i would have been interested to try acqua di parma from the expensive list and proraso too in general. santa maria novella sounds interesting thanks for the rec.

Castle Forbes shave cream is the best shave prep in the universe.

Agree with Bigspendur: Castle Forbes shave creams are the best I've found, especially for the straight razor.

For aftershave balm, Gentleman"s Refinery beats them all.

Scents are a matter of preference; there are a lot of good ones out there.

I agree with you on that. However, once you have developed your technique and want to delve into the more luxurious products it usually means a higher price. Obviously there are some exceptions.

My favorite so far is the Santa Maria Novella line up.

I can give myself an equally good shave with a puck of Williams or CF Lime cream. The CF, however, is so much more luxurious to use and enjoy that - to me, at least - it's worth its high price.
