This was a delayed Fathers Day gift from the kids in Chicago.

Have I ever mentioned that I really, really appreciate their shopping at Truefitt & Hill?

Santal. A whole bottle just for me. Hmmm.
And samples. Hmmm.
West Indies Lime SC, Sandalwood SC, Trafalgar SC, Grafton ASB. And Penhaligons Blenheim Boquet and Quercus EDT. And Spanish Leather.

Gosh I like samples. It WAS a Happy Fathers Day this year.

My first Aristocrat!

It has clearly been used quite a bit and it required a lot of TLC to bring back its former luster...

It doesn't have a date code, but the two untextured bands lead me to believe it's from the 1940s (please correct me if I'm wrong). Hear these are great shavers.

Nice Aristocrat RoyalKooparillo! What did you do/use to clean it up?

Nice Aristocrat RoyalKooparillo! What did you do/use to clean it up?

Thanks!

I soaked it in a warm water bath with a scoop of oxi-clean for about 25 minutes to loosen the grime. Then rinsed it, dryed it with a soft cloth, and then re-wet it. Sprayed some scrubbing bubbles on it, then gently cleaned it using a soft-bristled toothbrush, periodically dipping it back in the water. Then rinsed it, dryed it again, followed by q-tip drying/buffing for hard-to-reach places. Finally used a tuff-cloth to protect the finish and help it shine.

Nothing too abrasive, just a soft touch and some time...

--Oh, and a damp cloth followed by a bit of leather conditioner brought the exterior of the case to a much better condition, as well.

Today, I picked up a bottle of L'Occitane Cade aftershave splash which was on sale. I also picked up the shave bowl with Cade soap on sale last week. I definitely live too close to the L'Occitane store.

Hey Rod what's that in the lower left hand corner!? Is that from Argentina?
I see you made a few purchases from C&E
I bought enough stuff to last me until they throw dirt on my face :w00t:

And yes, with the C&E prices I had to stock up. We don't have one locally that had the sale, so Wtruitt helped me out.

Well, today I decided to go antiquing and came home with a New Improved (Belmont) from 1922 in excellent condition, and it only cost me $8.00. No case though! Cleaned up very nice... sorry I'm too tired to post pics. I also managed to get to the C&E sale and scored some Sandalwood, Sienna, and Sweet Almond shaving creams. :w00t:

Flea market toggle. :thumbup1:

Make us all envious - how much you get that one for?

Well. . . I paid $35 for the Toggle and the Aristocrat in the leather case. Surprisingly the Aristocrat cleaned up very well. It had a solid layer of scum which I thought would be severe plating loss, but I think it was more like a protective layer!!! The Toggle has plating loss on the straight bar.

here's what I have since I started, only a week ago.

Nothing fancy. I will eventually replace the brush, as I didn't appreciate having to pull brush hair off my cheek this morning during my shave and I find this inexpensive brush too soft for my liking. The razor is a Col Conk by Dovo which I got not shave ready and managed to get going on my own. I've had a couple of nice shaves with it already, and it was not expensive.

I want to get a Thiers Issard rasoir at some point. And I am sure I will have more creams and splashes and balms added to this over time.
