Well it was time for the next step. Following trying out DE razors with a Boots cheapo (£3.99) I decided to spend some serious money (in this case £35) on a razor. From Executive Shaving the following arrived this morning (as good as Christmas!!!):

Merkur Progress
20 Merkur Blades
Taylors Shaving Shop scent cream

Looking forward to trying the Progress tomorrow and seeing if it makes a difference.

After a few weeks on this forum it looks like I will soon need a second bathroom cabinet.

WOW. I just ordered this stuff friday night (three days ago), and its already waiting at home for me today! I am very impressed with QED's turnaround! Products were packed very thorougly, and secured well.

Edit: I also really enjoy the descriptive sheets/executive summaries that Charles sends out. Very professional.

Well, I must say I am normally immune to the RAD variant of *AD. That being said, I got two new razors. First, after all my griping about how NWC never answered my e-mails about the Injector group buy, a whole slew of members here came out of the woodwork to offer me theirs. What a bunch of guys! One member insisted on sending me one gratis despite my protestations. Not a good pic, but here it is:

http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/files/1/8/IMG_2580_1_1.JPG

Next, another member here put me in a half-nelson and insisted I buy a Gillette Superspeed from him after hearing that I had never tried a Gillette razor. Here is the little honey:

http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/files/1/8/IMG_2618_3_1.JPG

Can't wait to try them out.

That Gillette looks great. How does it work? Compared to the Merkur? I saw Joel's view on the Gillette, but I have been contemplating getting one off EBay. How is the injector, I am really close to pulling the trigger and getting one.

Now, on to our regular schedule for this thread:

Today, I got:

Floris Elite cologne, deoderant and balm
Floris Santal cologne, balm (2), shave cream and 3 bars of soap (great bar of soap btw, lathers even better C&E soaps I think).
Floris 127
Floris JF
(got to love the sale, but the elite was from Shop Londons, highly recommended)
Did a trade for the proraso pre/post and shave cream in the green tube.

I am now on a SWMBO hiatus from buying for a while

Taylors Victorian Limes cologne: this is my all time favorite cologne, used to think I only liked it in the summer, but after my wife said, "Mmmm. . .Daddy smells good this morning," at the breakfast table, this one is going into the 12 month rotation!:001_tt2: :001_tt2: :001_tt2:

Also finally picked up some Taylors avocado--great stuff, very moisturizing--the face feels so much better after the shave its amazing.

I also got a new hydrosol at the local hippie grocery--Pangea Organics - Italian Green Mandarin with Sweet Lime Facial Toner--very nice stuff, not as refreshing as Thayers, but with a bit more sting--in a good way. . .

Hi Pierre
I believe it is very good....but I haven't used it yet. I keep a watch on an e-bay seller who occasionally does very good deals. When they appear.....you just have to buy....or they are gone. This one has been put by for future use.

Today,

2 Gillette slim Adjustables in excellent condition. One needs a little lubrication but otherwise both are nice and shinny. No brassing, rust or any dents. Both are J-1. The $2.00 I payed for both (from the same seller) broke me until next week.

I managed a little free time today and stopped by Neiman Marcus. After sampling this one I couldn't walk away from it, I had to get it. I also picked up some Creed samples.

On a side note, the service at Neiman's is exceptional!

Hello All,

A very modest eBay win - a mint Schick injector w/4 blade cartridge. The other cartridge is a Ted Pella (http://www.tedpella.com/dissect_html/dissect.htm#anchor1590232) with 20 injector blades for $4.50.

Will give it a go this weekend and see how the Schick-Pella combo works.

Here's what I bought yesterday:

http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=3313

From left to right: an old non rebranded block of pure Marseille soap (palmoil based) from 300grammes. Marseille soaps are still widely sold but typically rebranded by other manufacturers. I received this one actually as a gift by a friend who knows how much I love this soap. I love the fact that the weight itself is "printed" into the soap block itself (you can see it on the left side that is visible).

Then my new lathering bowl in the middle and on the right it's my can in which I will let my badger brushes soak while I'm taking a shower. I placed my EJ medium best badger brush in the bowl to give you an idea on the size of the piece of soap, the lathering bowl and the can.

The lathering bowl is in fact a spaghetti bowl which should be used in the oven but it looked like the perfect lathering bowl due to good looks of it and in my opinion a very good size. The can itself should not be placed in the oven but was made to maintain hot liquids to good temperature. The materials of these two are made to retain heat as much as possible.

I'll be trying the lathering bowl during tomorrow's shave and see in what way they can keep the heat for 20 to 30 minutes. If it doesn't retain the heat long enough then I already have the perfect solution: a little food heater which uses small "tea lights" (don't know whether that was translated correct but it's those very small pieces of candle which typically Chinese restaurants use to keep the food warm on the table). I'll let you guys know the outcome. :001_smile

Today was a really funny day. A friend of mine who lives in London was coming to visit so I asked him to pop in to Trumpers (in London) and pick me up a bottle of their Sandalwood Cologne. :001_tt1:

Anyway he arrived at my place at midday with my cologne, and we went for a drive to a small town nearby. I was telling him there was nowhere round here to buy decent shaving products, but as we were walking we spotted a small and really old Chemist shop (drugstore). I decided to go inside for a quick look, and found the shop was actually huge inside but with a small doorway/shopfront. Inside they had a whole wall of Trumpers products, and another whole wall of Crabtree & Evelyn products! :w00t:

I was stunned, I had never noticed this shop before and couldn't believe it. So I left there about 10 minutes later with two pots of Trumpers shaving cream, Coconut Oil and Sandalwood.

So todays aquisitions are:

Trumpers Sandalwood Cologne.
Trumpers Sandalwood Shaving Cream.
Trumpers Coconut Oil Shaving Cream. :thumbup1:
