This past weekend was a low-brow bonanza. I picked-up bottles of Pinaud's Quinine and Portugal Water hair tonics and bottles of KMF Key Lime, Mint and Lavendar Shea SC. The SWMBO has already commandeered the Lavender however, so maybe I shouldn't count that one?

I actually picked up a Rolex day-date at an estate sale over the weekend, in a potter with about 6 other vintage watches, including bulova, citizen, etc, 2 doors down from my own house. I know nothing about these. I googled to find the model name, but it could be a president. If anyone knows anything about these please shoot me a PM. Not in perfect shape, but it's sale on ebay might fund a few more acquisitions. :) I will post a picture, but I am waiting for my new camera to be delivered.

edit: without telling you I got the entire potter of watches for $5 it does not have the same effect...

Edwin Jagger Bulbous Chrome Razor

QED Badger & Blade Soap
Mama Bears Rosrmary & Lemongrass Soap
MWF

The razor looks EXCELLENT.

I am going to try these soaps keeping in mind that I'm primarily a TABAC, FLORIS, & T&H Luxury Soap Guy. The MWF has been something I have been meaning to try...the other two.... not so sure.

My toys arrived. WOO HOO A 1917-1918 Service set beautifully polished and looking like new, a 1934 Aristocrat that is so pristine it may never see my beard, a 1948-1950 NDC SS in excellent condition and a fantastic Wade & Butcher straight razor. That one may stay in the box too. At least until I figure out how to use it. Thank God for ramen. Eating is so over rated.

Nice haul, Drew.

When I arrived home I found a sweet little package from the fine gentleman at Shavingessentials.net. In it were 2 tubes of Wars SC, I tube of Lider SC, 1 tube of the newly formulated Cremo SC, a bottle of Booster's Sage hair tonic and 3 samples. Always a pleasure to do business with the Johns!

Jenesee and I adopted this fine fellow last night from the Harrisburg PA Humane League.

His name is Hendrix and he's a Maine Coone somewhere in the 1 to 2 year old range. He's very affectionate and he's working his hardest to get used to the other cat (Google) and our greyhound, Ash.

Now that's a haul. Be careful though you may just have a knock off Rolex. My mother bought one at a flea market and thought she bought the real thing.

Thanks, I feel really foolish, I should have deleted the post. I knew that there were fakes available on the streets of NY, but I did not realize there were more fakes out there than the real things. Upon doing a bit of research I am almost positive it is a fake, not the RAD funding purchase I assumed it was when I saw it.

http://www.rkgrady.com/rodd/images/rolex.jpg still waiting on the new camera obviously. ;)
I will probably list the lot on ebay, at least I should get my $5 back...

PS, I am waiting on my last weeks worth of haul posts until that camera arrives, although the camera itself will be my main haul.

from what I read about fakes, the real ones should have more magnification on the date, almost filling the bubble with the date, where mine does not. Oh well, no razor shopping spree for me. :frown:

I'd take it to a reputable watch shop - just to be sure - unless its an obvious fake (rust, plastic crystal, poor fit/finish, etc.)

the funny part, a friend of my mother picked up a "fake" rolex at a flea market becuase she needed a watch quickly while traveling, it ended up being real and stolen, so dont always asume its fake, but remember that handling stolen goods isnt the most etical thing either,

I am back from lunch. So as I entered Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle, I headed for Crabtree & Evelyn. I have been to Time Warner Center many times to visit the Art of Shaving Store upstairs and this was my first visit to C&E. To my surprise when I neared the C&E store I noticed a L’Occitane store one store away. I also read in another post they are also having a sale. The following is today’s haul:
L’Occitane
Cade Shaving Soap and bowl reg price $32.00 Sale 22.40
Crabtree & Evelyn
Sienna Shaving Cream Tube reg price $15.00 Sale $7.50
Sandalwood Shaving Cream Tube reg price $15.00 Sale $7.50
Nomad Shaving Cream Tube reg price $15.00 Sale $7.50
Sienna Shaving Soap Refill reg. $8.00 Sale $3.00
Sandalwood Soap and Bowl reg. $18.00 Sale $9.00
Along with the supplies above I also received in the mail today a Black Tip SS, that I purchased from a fellow B&B member. Also some samples of C&E after shave relief and L’Occitane Cade Youth Concentrate and Cade After Shave Balm.
As I am New York City born and raised I always tell people what a great city this is to visit I now think I have found shaving heaven all under one roof. Add to your list of must see NYC landmarks the Empire State Building, Central Park and the Statue of Liberty and Time Warner Center for Shaving Supplies.

Looks as if she was never abused.. or used for that matter.
Still even has the compound (pink) for sharpening the blades.
Very cool design.. with the blade in place, you shake the razor and the blade sharpens. Quite expensive in it's day, $10 for this Rhodium Plated version or $15 for the Gold Plated version. Nifty.

A little teak or tung oil would work nicely, also some good quality carnuba or beeswax polish would work well - that's what I've used on my TI scales with good results.

OK now I feel bad. We should have a thread where we can decipher eBay codes. It was nice a few months ago when actual user names showed up and now they are scrambled, but always in the same sequence it seems, at least on US and Canadian eBay. The UK site assigns bidders numbers, bidder 1 bidder 2, etc. and I'm not sure they can be cracked..

In fact I'm going to start a thread in the safety razor forum now. Sorry Scott and Ram, heck I thought it just sneaked by. I didn't want to step on anyones toes. :blushing:
