Tomorrow morning I'm taking the plunge! A little history...

I've been shaving exclusively with electric shavers for the last 15 years. I currently have one of those fancy self-cleaning Braun deals. I've never been real impressed with the closeness but my neck is extremely sensitive and I always assumed electric was gentler. A couple weeks ago I decided to try a blade. I went with a Schick Quattro. Shortly after I stopped the bleeding I got online to find out what I could do to improve my results.

I've read hundreds of posts in these forums over the last couple weeks (a big thanks to all of you!) and my Merkur 38C arrived today! So tomorrow will mark my second experiment. It almost has to go better than the first!

Anyway, as I'm sure I will be asking lots of questions after tomorrow, I figured introducing myself would be the polite thing to do.

Welcome!

I'd watch Mantic's Videos before you try out your new DE. In any case, you should have a closer shave than with an electric.

+10!! Watch the videos and read the tutorials. I promise your shaving experience will be much more pleasurable!!! Also order a sample pack of blades from westcoastshaving.com right away. Some like the merkur blade, but the over all consensus is they are better used for paint scrapers...OK that's a little more my opinion, but many, many will agree!

And...Welcome!!! Ask lots of questions...lots of good folks here to help you out!

Welcome to B&B :thumbup1:

I am sure you read it many times but coming from an electric you will really need to remember use almost no pressure at all, let the razor do the work or else you may end up with razor burn

good luck
