What is the purpose of having sub forums within the razor forums? As far as I can tell safety razor topics are posted in the main razor as well as the safety razor sub forum. Also, the straight razor forum is seldom used.

In other words, to me, it is a little bit over complicated for no reason in a forum that has too many forums to begin with.

Clearly I am not alone in this confusion because there are many safety razor topics posted in the main razor forum. For example NW Injectors appear in both. To me, readability suffers as sometimes I can't be bothered digging into yet another sub forum for subjects that seem to appear in both. What are we supposed to post in the main razor forum as there are only two types of razors? (unless I want to post about electric razors!)

I don't think the volume of posts in all the razor forum warrants having three forums in total.

Good show Richard. You have stumbled over something called sloth. I happen to agree with your assertion that there are posts where they don't belong. Perhaps instead of destroying the structure that is intended to make it easier to find topics, it's time for the mod(s) to advise the errant posters to mend their ways?

I also have been somewhat disorientate when it comes to the razor forum, do I put a post it in general or safety -If I had a straight razor question that would be easy. But the general and safety are redundant for the most part-as Rusty said - if there are two basic typs of razors we have three forums. :w00t:

Sounds good, but what on earth would be posted in the main Razor forum?

Confusion you see! Nix the sub forums they are pointless!

Even the mods are confused as to where to put the topics. There is a NWCI sticky by Joel in the main razor forum, when clearly the NWCI is a safety razor! Ahh, but if you bury it in the Safety Razor sub-forum fewer people would find it!

Trust me, maybe you are used to the layout here, but there are far to many forums overall. A bit too convoluted for the volume of posts in many forums. Colognes and Aftershaves should be rolled into one, etc.

(No i'm not saying be more like SMF, just for the sake of readability, I find this site far to complex for the volume of posts in some of the forums). :confused1

Good feedback. Since I only use the "new posts" button, I don't see the subforum complexity in my usual browsing, but I see your point. We'll take it under consideration.

I have asked people numerous times to post in the correct forum, and for the longest amount of time, it worked with no problem. However, with the massive increase in posting in the razor forum, i would spend all day transfering posts and threads and the like....its just not feasible. However, as per people's suggestions, I will post a stick asking people to post in the appropriate place.

RIchard,
I don't think the intent was to have a "MAIN" razor forum, just a "Safety Razor" and "Straight." If we merely had one Razor forum what would be challenging is that there are topics that are definitely not applicable for Str8s that are appropriate for Safety Razors, etc.. As far as being more like SMF, who knows. Whatever gets the job done. I think, though, that you need to look at The Wet Shavers Group (http://groups.msn.com/thewetshaversgroup) and see what happens when you lump almost everything together.
