im not sure how many 'outdoorsmen' would lug around strops, hones and soaps through the bush.

last time I went camping the only thing even close to grooming and hygiene that I brought was the rubbing alcohol for cuts and cleaning hands for cooking... though I might have to try it as an aftershave spalsh!

One offtopic question: do you HAVE to roll the blade on the spine? If you're careful and lift it completely off, it wouldn't make any difference, would it?

Thats what I'm saying! As much of a shaving snob I am, I think I would just take a cartridge set with me if I HAD to shave in the woods.

Eh, for a short camping trip I just wouldn't shave. For a long one (more than a week or two) I'd bring a straight, strop, mirror, and shave stick. This is to cut down on waste which would have to be dealt with.

Unless you happened to have a razor bank on your camping trip, you'd have to have a razor blade holder that accepted used blades. Or bring your cartridge razor with it's magazine to accept used blades.

Well, the thing is, when you start naturally picking up speed it starts getting very riske insofar as tearing into the strop is concerned; as the faster you go, the smaller your movements become, and so on...

Quite so, I've nicked my strop twice so far :mad3: just a reminder for other new folks out there...it is not a race

if i went camping and didn't come back with a beard, id just be embarrassed. there's no need to shave in the wild, no matter how much you love it.
