Hello all

first post , though i have been lurking for the last 2 weeks. Something made me want to shave with a straight razor - not sure what.

so i jumped in - i have a dovo special which i really like , though i think i need to get it sharper - maybe honed , since its new , out of the box

i hit some antique shops - looking for something different , i really dont want to collect razors - i have collected , at various times in the past , Hamilton watches, fountain pens , political buttons, Master badges, movies, Buffalo Bills memorabilia , and other stuff i am sure- i jump in and out of stuff and learn a lot - i enjoy the chase.

anyways , i found a dubl duck special no 1 the other day - i coud add some of these to a collection

i found this razor and it says Wm Elliot and Company , 130 is on the tang -
did a search and found out this company was around from 1880 -1907 and then sold to another company , who used the same stamp.

i think the scales are very cool and very different , hence the reason i bought it - the tag said ivory or cell.

Any information on age would be great and does it have any collectible value - i bought it for the looks - and would consider trading it for a dubl duck. It does need cleaning and restoring. any info would be appreciated-

looking forward to hanging around

thanks

gary

Welcome, what?

That looks like an interesting razor, what? I suspect it'd clean up nicely to shave with, what? Although the green marks are unfortunate, what?

(Oh, man, this'll be fun, what?)

Hey What!

It's possible the green is supposed to be there. WM Elliot made very good razors IMHO. Could clean up very nicely and make a great shaver.

Welcome Aboard!!

Very nice razor indeed. The most famous what rendition ever.

"What"....hmmm parental guidance suggested, do not, I repeat do not open at work or in front of small children or anyone who might be offended by course language.

intersting looking razor
if you find anyone willing to part with a Dubl Duck it is almost always at a premium if in any decent condition at all

Those are celluloid scales. Some mild soap and warm water and they should clean up very nicely. On Eboy I would guess looking like that the razor might fetch $50 on a good day. Nothing rare or unusual about the scales though.
