Hello everyone. After years of being underwhelmed with cartridge razors and the bumps they leave, I grew up and learned to shave right. Thanks to mantic59 and Badger and Blade, I have decided to try wet shaving with a DE Razor. I spent a day of running around town trying to locate any equipment I found a store that carried Crab-tree and Evelyn, and got their best badger brush and nomad shaving cream. I love the brush, but I am not really into the scent of the cream. It works well, but it smells like a nursing home.
I have started using this cream with my fusion, and it makes a huge deal. Now I must wait until my Merkur HD and 100 Pack of Derby Extra Blades comes in, and I will be ready to fully experience a real shave!
Do I have all my bases covered, or are there other things I need? Also, how do you guys show off your razor in the bathroom? I have the brush sitting in the mug now, but I want something to hold the razor with a CDI factor. Thanks.

Hi Janno, and Welcome to B&B!!! Glad to have you here. Most of the bases are covered, starting out. You need a lather bowl. Something for post-shave; A/S, or Aftershave Balm, or astringent. A few washcloths, and small hand towels dedicated to shaving. A styptic pencil. Perhaps a Cologne or Eau dToilette in a suitable fragrance. There's (much) more, of course. But this loads the bases for you.
You're going to love this wet shaving stuff.

Welcome. You're definitely on the right track. Check out on-line vendors for razor and brush stands; they're not easy to find in brick & mortar stores, but I'm happy I have one. As for the Nomad, it took me a while to warm up to the scent, but now it's one of my favorites. If you like its performance, take a whiff of C&E's Sienna or Sandalwood to see if you like them better. Then try the other 50 top-quality manufacturers and buy everything.:001_smile

Sounds like you have some nice stuff.
I couldn't help but notice that you said you keep your brush in a mug. Do you store it bristles down? If so that is a big no-no.

Janno, Welcome to B&B. It's sounds like you have a great start and are well on your way to enjoying some of the most incredible shaves of your life. Two things to remember which IMHO are the two most important things to remember, Blade angle and the least amount of pressure possible.
Again, Welcome and Enjoy!!!

Welcome! Sounds like you're all ready. I hold my razors in a toothbrush holder (http://mantic59.blogspot.com/2008/03/that-cool-razor-stand.html) from Walmart!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I keep the brush in the mug bristle up, It looks really cool in the mug that I have for now. I have no drawers in my apartment, so I might as well use the fancy shaving stuff to make the room look classier. Has anyone tried the Moss(?) shaving mugs?

Welcome to B&B land, glad to have you with us!
Sounds like you've got a great attitude, that's the way to get off to a great start! Sounds like you're not too happy with the scent of your cream. Check out the reviews here at B&B and you'll see hundreds of suggestions as to shave creams and soaps. Some of my preferences: soaps - Tabac, Mitchell's Woolfat, QED Lime. Creams - anything by Taylor of Bond Street (many like the Avocado, my fav is Eton College). Happy shaving!
