I would love any information available as to what kind of hone this is, and how I should use it. The ONLY thing I know is that it came from a very old barber shop. Do I use it wet or dry? What is the material? The side that is light brown in color has a stonelike grain to it. Your input will be greatly appreciated!!

No idea... unfortunately there are hundreds of non-branded barber hones out there.

I say lap it flat, put some water on it and take it for a spin!
The worst thing that could happen: The hone crumbles when you get it wet or it is too coarse for shaving and you have to smooth out or refine your edge again before it's shave ready.
The best case scenario: You enter a new realm of sharpness and smooth-osity you could only dream of. You proudly tell all your friends about your no name mystery hone, and search in vain for another like it.
The most likely scenario: You spend 20 min to an hour lapping it, you test hone a razor and..... meh. It's ok. Nothing special one way or another. It sits in a drawer because you have other just as effective, but more interesting, hones anyhow. You go out and buy more hones because you have HAD now.

Id say lap it and take more pictures of it from the top side.
