I dabbed some alcohol based after shave on a cotton and used it to clean my razor. It removed all the soap deposits from the Merkur Razor chrome and made it all shiny again. Quickly too.
Was wondering if this is a safe method to clean razor ? Or would it do any damage ?
Any thoughts or experience with this ?
The other ingredients in the aftershave could leave a residue behind.
Probably better to just use plain old rubbing alcohol. I just give mine a quick swish in a small bowl of rubbing alcohol.

Just use plain rubbing alcohol. Toothbrush and dishwashing detergent works well, too.

I noticed the scent of the AS remains with the razor until the next shave.
So plain simple alcohol is safe what I gather.

if you don't like the scent of plain rubbing alcohol, walgreens has a citrus and mint scented rubbing alcohol that is a little easier on the nose. it's also cheap!
