Pretty good shave today. I spent some time massaging in the preshave cream, and used Ron's Four Pass technique. A few nicks, but very close on cheeks and neck.

Excellent two-pass shave. No nicks, irritation, or A/S burn. This morning's shave was rushed, so I fully expected the shave to be spotty and to feel the burn of the A/S. Not so. So, after two shaves with my second '47 Aristocrat, I'm getting the great shaves I get from my first '47, but without any burning/stinging when using A/S.

i'm not real fond of it,but use it occassionally.not very cushiony or much glide,but fairly good moisturizing.with a nice light citrus scent that does not linger more than 10-15 minutes.

The word "shred" comes to mind. I don't know if it was the interrupted preshave, the old-ish blade, the four-pass shave which goes ATG on my neck on the first pass, or my general tiredness thanks to too much primary coverage on TV, but it wasn't pretty today.

But the Nivea is nice. I feel much better now.

I was in a hurry and wanted to try this Fusion, since I haven't shaved with a cartridge razor in a year. Well it really helped confirm what I already knew. Cartridge razors are for shit. The shave was so-so, but the sensation was horrid. The razor pulls on your face like crazy. This cream is pretty weak, but honestly it did seem to work with a cartridge for a speed shave. After I rinsed off my face, I put on some of this wonderful eShave ASB, only to realize I had a decent amount of stubble left. Thanks Gillette. :glare:

Alas, I have not GFT. Initially I enjoyed their fragrances, but grew weary of them quickly. Now I stick with either Musgo or TOBS. And so:

Shaved last night before bed.
My new '74 Gillette Super Adjustable, set on 4, with a new Crystal blade.
My Simpsons CH1 - soaked for 5 minutes in hot tap water.
TOBS Sandalwood shave cream.
1 pass WTG, 2 passes XTG.
Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel.
Proraso Crema Liquida Dopobarba.

This was my first time using the TOBS Sandalwood and the Super Adjustable, and all I can say is WOW! This was one of the smoothest shaves I have had in a long time, and my face felt so soft afterwards that it seemed almost a waste to use the AS balm. I loved the weight and length of the Super. I had a Futur and while I liked the length, it was just a bit too heavy. The Super is just right, and forces me to hold it further back, thus allowing the weight of the razor to do most of the cutting work for me. I think I like it better than the Fatboy I had. Great shave!

Above the jawline I did Ron's four-pass shave. Feels great.

Best shave I've ever had. Last Saturday I cut myself up badly while shaving, so I didn't shave for a week to let my face heal. This was the first time I used Kyle's pre shave method. The results were spectacular: almost BBS after a WTG and XTG pass, BBS with no nicks or weepers after a final ATG pass. In the next couple of weeks I'm going to see if this pre shave routine makes the difference.

I usually let my face rest on Saturday, but my wife & I have prom chaperone duty (she teaches high school) tonight and I need to look presentable.

I did yard work for a few hours in the late morning. Very pleasant outside. Came in and took a nice shower, then my shave.

- Slim Adjustable with Feather blade set to 5
- MWF soap
- Delong brush (first shave with it today; giving my other one to wife)

- Warm water rinse, then cold water rinse and Thayer's Superhazel

- After some hair drying & whatnot, another cold water rinse and my Thayer's Lavender WH & aloe gel aftershave.


I love the weekends. :wink2:

I always have the problem with soaps that they dry out my skin a little bit if lather stays on my face for more than 5 minutes.
And than during the say the skin gets oily even though it was very dry in the morning after shaving
With harris soaps this improved a little bit but still not satisfying
