View Full Version : The B&B Pink Ivory Le Grelot's are in!
http://www.badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=12306
6/8 Le Grelot, 1/4 Ground, mirror polished, Pink Ivory Scaled...
Mmmm.....mmmmm goodness!
They're here - and they're gorgeous.
The pink ivory is so different from razor to razor, which really adds a unique and interesting quality to each razor. At first glance they look like a neat uniform reddish hue, yet as you look closer they have a beautiful grain - much like a good elephant or hippo ivory.
Not only are the scales beautiful, but the blade is simply superb. Wonderful weight - perfect 1/4 hollow grid (very stiff and robust), wonderful feel, shoulder-less grind, and a pretty good mirror polish (some are perfect, others show some light scratches) - all in all, these are the most consistent razors I have seen from the thiers issard factory.
http://www.badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=12279
Good news and bad news. First - the bad. I don't have final pricing, etc yet - we're waiting on Nick to figure out the conversion rates (we had to pay for them in Euro's) and the final shipping. I still need to inspect them all, and make sure there aren't any defective razors, etc and there are some of the standard Thiers Issard q/c issues with some scales not perfect, and some of the "mirror polishes" have some light scratches still showing - but this is me being VERY nit-picky. The good news - the 2 I honed up and tested shaved with performed BETTER than the proto - which was as buttery smooth and face friendly as i've ever experienced. The quality of these razors is hands down the finest, and most consistent I have experienced from Thiers Issard. Lastly, it looks like we'll have some extras, so everyone who wants one, will likely be able to get one!
Overall, I think they're simply outstanding - 10 out of 10.
Now, for what you're all truly interested in.... lots of pictures! (Note: I didn't have time to take really sharp pictures with a DSLR in a light box, so I just used a point and shoot - which doesn't really do 'em justice. I'll post some snazzy ones next week )

Wow these look sweeeeeeet! Can't wait for the final details to come in. Silly question BTW but will you hone them before sending them out to their new owners? If this is a separate option price details on that would be greatly appreciated for those of us honing newbies... I'd hate to destroy a beauty like one of these
You boys play nice with those in the meantime :w00t:

Just a heads up, the updated sign up list can be found here (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=45582).

Michael,
Honing will be an option (for a nominal fee), and it will definitely be performed before the razor is shipped out. It will be an option available in the shopping cart when you place your order.

Great job guys - definitely one of the nicest TIs I've seen (I prefer things simple and clean).
I can't wait to get my hands on mine.
The B&B etching is nice and classy.
Thanks for all your hard work on this - a nice looking razor with an uncommon grind - and at a good price

I'm a newbie to the list, as well as straight razor shaving but I would
really be interested in getting one of these. How do I make it happen?
As well I suppose price is important.
Thank You

As others have done, I want to personally thank Nick and Joel (and anybody else I might have missed) for their hard work in bringing us these razors.
The timing is also just about perfect. I turned 36 yesterday, so what a fine gift for me from....myself.

I believe the estimate was around $200-250, but with the ever-plummoting us dollar we could be a little higher.

just want to thank those involved for making this project a reality, along with some of the ther recent great projects on B&B
Has there been mention of how we will be notified of final price and billing method? Yes, I realize there is a final tally and inspection being done.
Thanks to Joel and all for taking on this project.

UPDATE:
Thanks for your patience so far everyone. The Le Grelot's will be $260 (USD). Honing will be available for an additional $15. The shipping options will be FedEx Ground (fully insured), or USPS First Class with some sort of Tracking or Delivery Confirmation. If you opt for the latter, on a $260 razor, with no insurance, if it gets lost or damaged in the mail, we're not responsible. If it's lost or damaged by FedEx, you'll be taken care of. If the shopping cart lets us do insurance on USPS, we'll do it, but there's no guarantees it'll be available for that method.
We'll hopefully be able to start accepting money for the razors on Friday. Unfortunately, I'll be traveling from the 17th to the 23rd, so with any luck, I'll be able to box and ship these on the 24th. We're going to use Google Checkout as our primary payment processor, and hopefully have another option available sometime soon. We'd really prefer not to use Paypal, but if we can't get the other option in place in a reasonable amount of time, we'll do PayPal. Google's best for us, and it's what'll guarantee your razor goes out with the first shipment, but if Paypal's the only method you can use, we'll make it happen.
Lastly, we might be able to get our hands on a few more of these, so if you're interested, make sure you add yourself to the wait list here (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=45582) (the list was updated a short while ago).
Thanks guys!

Oye, Fedex means I'll get the package safely but it also means significantly increased cost and the possibility of getting nailed with a hefty brokerage fee. USPS on the other hand is cheaper, may get nailed by customs but will still cost a whole less lot... I hope a USPS with insurance will be available...
