i've only got one ti, a fairly modest "eagle" in 6/8" size. i cannot figure out why it's the only razor in my bakers' dozen that has accumulated micro-chips on the blade. anybody else have the same experience with ti in particular?
it's not as a result of trauma. some of the chips are just visible to the eye, in a good light. under a loupe, the last third of the blade (ie closest to the razor tip) has scores of micro-chips.

Micro chips don't just happen to a blade. There are several possibilities: It came that way from the factory-but that's unlikely, you honed it and made the edge too thin and its not standing up to wear, the way you strop, the way you shave, rough handling. I have 10 TIs and have not had this problem with any of them.

agreed. it definitely happened post-purchase, so i'm the guilty party. i'm inclined to think it's due to stropping, as its only on the tip-third of the blade. the handle two-thirds is untouched.
still shaves ok, but could do with a re-grind.

It sounds like yer flipping yer wrist at the end of the stropping stroke, I only say this because you are describing the problem on only part of the blade....
To compound the problem You're probably putting to much pressure on the stroke...
Unfortunately, microchips normally need to be honed out...

Don't do a regrind. Thats a big job and unnecessary. Just hone it out or have a honemeister do it for you.

+1.
Who honed the razor initially?
I doubt that bad stropping caused chipping - you can definitely ruin an edge with bad stropping technique, but I've not heard of this causing chipping.
Do you have a pasted strop - if so, some time on the pasted strop might help.

I "think" because we have no pics, and the razor is not in hand, that what he is trying to describe is probably the edge degrading, either by bad stropping, or possibly an overhoned razor in the first place... In which case the stropping and/or bad stropping would compound the problem....Paste on an overhoned edge could cause an even worse condition...
This of course is all just pure speculation since I can't see nor touch the blade....
Spent my 2 cents
