First shave with the new razor. Personally, I like the look of it. I didn't see any finish problems, tooling marks, burrs, misaligned parts, excessively loose parts, etc. All in all, it looks like a very well built razor. The added length is also very nice, as I have large hands. The grip was very comfortable - no problems with slipping. I loaded a new CVS blade in the razor this morning, and you could tell that the razor was brand new, because it didn't want to let go of the key after I injected the new blade.
As for the shave, it was very good. I believe that other people have commented that the blade exposure was not as aggressive as older Schick Injectors, and I would agree. I did a three pass shave this morning (with the grain, across the grain, and against the grain) with no irritation.
Personally, I have found that a less agressive razor will yield a better shave. If I take too much off in the initial pass, especially on the neck, I'm likely to get at least one ingrown. Gradual reduction of the beard appears to work the best for me.
It's tough to judge a razor (or any other shaving equipment) on one use, but so far, so good. This was money well spent!

Today was the first time I've used the Proraso. Interesting cooling/tingling feeling from the menthol, surprised me at first. Does anyone know if Proraso has inherent styptic properties? I nicked myself on the first pass and thus when I relathered I saw a small red dot in the cream from the nick, but after that it never bled again and normally those don't stop bleeding that quickly.

Hi ,
Use more water to make the NB lather, I had the same problem till one time by accident there got in alot of water into my shavebowl.. too late to get it out I had to swirl my brush..out came great usable lather ! I used the NB with proraso PRE 2 days ago ! very nice..its not the proraso pre's fault..its your water ! we underestimate the water quality to make lather !

I decided to try a hot-off-the-rack Injector blade after seeing a few comments about the NWC Injector blades that were new old stock (mine had a 1997 copyright on it). There was a significant improvemebt in today's shave--much closer and smoother. Still not quite as close as my usual Merkur Progress/Israeli Personna combo, but a damn fine "A-" shave.

Fell off the straight razor horse a few days ago, so I had to jump back on. For me, the key to straights is to abandon any attempt to replicate a BBS DE shave. Just ain't happenin'. If I concentrate on smoothness, rather than removing every last vestige of stubble, I can do okay.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that is getting darn good shaves with the NWC fixed head injector razor. I've been using a CVS brand blade in mine for three shaves now, and I'm still getting good results. True, my face isn't getting absolutely glassy smooth, and there's still the slightest hint of stubble in a few problem spots, but I've found that when I try to go for that ultimate finish is when I get into trouble. :blushing:

Jeff, the arko soap is wonderful. Hopefully there is an extra spot available in Arkoholics Anonymous. The lather is superb and comes easily. I believe I'm using the stick in a different manner than others, but I'll be playing around with that in the next few days. The smell is wonderful! It reminds me of Williams Mug soap (as far as scent only), but more potent. It blended well with the Pinaud clubman too.

VIP! Thanks!
I sure will enjoy it. I am really into soaps lately and now that I'm starting to round out my collection I don't see my creams getting much use at all.
You seem to be somewhat of a shaving soap aficianado, and based on your rave reviews alone, I bought 7 of these things last week. I'm worried that won't be enough. What if they stop making them? Maybe I should buy 100 of them.
How many do you keep on hand?
btw - I enjoy the scent so much, that I've been washing my hands with the stick.

Joe, I have a lot of soaps, but I still have more creams, I think. Definitely, I love Arko, it's my favorite soap, but I keep 10 other soaps, like Col. Conk, Mama Bear, and Gold-Dachs Spezial, which is off the market now unfortunately. I doubt that Arko soap would meet that fate, because it's so popular. BTW, I use mine ONLY for shaving, even though I have a few more unstarted ones, I want them to last forever! I gave a stick of it to my dad and even he loves it, he's going to be 85 this month, and he became a dedicated wetshaver once again!

Thats great Jeff! I'm pretty sure Arko will still be in my "rotation" when I get to be that old.

Not too long ago I recall asking my wife to come and look (at the computer screen) at these disturbed people who post pictures of their shaving gear on this site!
Here I am, not a month later in my bathroom doing a photo shoot of a razor/brush stand. :scared:
 Well, here is my latest: Murkur SS Safety Razor/Brush Stand purchased from Classic Shaving for $74.99 http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/522941/430006.htm#image_1
It just fits the C&E $35 brush and it looks like it would accept just about any safety razor. It's very heavy and seems well constructed.
Sorry. I posted this in the wrong place, I meant to put it in Acquisitions.

Very nice razor stand Brian, I have the same one. Is yours a 30mm capable stand? Mine is, I find these stands capable of holding any razor and brush you can throw at it!
