Welcome to B&B :thumbup1:
I think using Rem oil should be fine, I got a bottle of Hoppes # 9 lubricating oil which should be pretty similar (identical) to the Rem oil, it says for firearms, fishing reels and all mechanisms which a razor would be.

Thanks, I was wondering about the sideeffects of teflon since they put that in. appreciate your reply.

As far as preservation goes you can use anything however my concern would be how it affects your skin. You might really need to ensure all the oil is off before you put it to your skin. If you use mineral oil or sterol you don't have that problem.

I prefer Tri-Flow, as just a drop or two goes a long way. But Hopps should do a fine job, i have used it on my firearms for 30 years. Just use it sparingly.

Plus.... Tri-Flow has teflon which withstands water and other gunk very well. The # choice of mountain bikers world wide for this reason.:w00t:
