I'm looking for a good, store bought (supermarket or drug store) facial cleanser/wash. Any recommendations?

Cetaphil or generic knockoff.

I use Neutrogena deep clean soap in the pump bottle and cream in the tube. The cream in the tube has a proraso-like cooling effect.

I have pretty oily skin and it does a great job without drying my skin out.

Cetaphil or generic knockoff.

 Gets face really clean without drying.

Another fave is the Aveeno Dry Skin bar. It will leave your skin silky smooth.

I bought it online, but I understand that Proraso products are more available in the U.S. Their glycerine based face bar cleanses well and softens the bristles pre-shave.

Noxema, or even the store brand knockoff, works well.

L'Oreal Men's Expert Power Clean facewash. Great, clean feeling, I've had ZERO pimples on my face in about a year of using it once a day, and it smells good. Plus it has very masculine packaging, so your SO doesn't mistake it for theirs.

Nivea for Men Face Wash. This stuff rocks and compares well to higher end brands that I've used.

There is no such thing as best. When it comes to personal hygene items stuff works different for everybody. Right now I use Dove Cool Moisture face wash with cucumber and lotion, which I bought at Wal Mart. IDK if it's best for me or not because it's immposible to try them all out. I believe it works Ok. Afterall they all feature pretty similiar ingridients in their formulas, but with different added scents.

I recently started using Every Man Jack face scrub in signature mint. It is one of the best I have tried. I get it all Wal-Mart.

+1 on that. Everyman Jack is also available at Target too. I love their signature mint. Plus it's cheap. Like $5 for each one of their products.

My shaving soap/cream seems to do a great job cleaning my cheeks/chin/neck. Does anyone else using their remaining lather to scrub their nose and forehead, instead of using a separate product?

When I was a teen I used Boraxo powered hand soap and cold water (true story; it worked well). Coach said it would build character as well as clean my skin. Hmm, I'm not sure, but he may have been a bit masochistic. ;-)

Seconded. I saw them on sale at Target for ~$2; now, I regret not grabbing ten bottles. I'd say I've got average skin, and this is the first cleanser that I've liked. It leaves my skin very soft and smooth, with just the right amount of moisture. Thumbs up!

I am also a fan of the Everyman Jack. I use it to wash my face at night, it is a quite refreshing and mild cleaner. The signture scent is my favorite. I do not like the simulated wood grain cap, it reminds me of old station wagon.

I use Johnson and Johnson Purpose face wash, because a dermatologist recommended it to me as really good, gentle, and cheap. He said a lot of stuff out there is a waste of money.

On a side note, the bottle says it has been "Clinically proven as gentle as water." A bit disconcerting that they do not mention which water...the stuff in an underground artesian well in the middle of the Yukon, of the water that caught fire in the river in Cleveland in the 70's???

+1 Nivea Soothing Face Wash!! Soap, fragrance, colourants and alcohol-free - this face wash is excellent for sensitive skin!! It's second listed ingredient after water is glycerine - which really softens the whiskers and thus is a great pre-shave product too

When I use the Nivea Soothing face wash on my beard area pre-shave, it dries me out and I get bad shaves, so I use it only on my non-beard area.

Otherwise, fantastic stuff

I've recently used both Nivea Double Action and Every man jack. The nivea leaves your face feeling what I can only describe as "squeaky clean". It does on occassion dry my face out a bit more that I would like but most of the time is perfect. The Everyman jack products are much more gentle and leave you feeling clean. If you have really oily skin Everyman might not be what your looking for. The scent of the every man jack is nice but not overpowering. Both products have worked well for me.

Neutrogena Oil-free deep Cleansing. One side note though, it is a bit drying because of the Benozyl Peroxide but its perfect for summer use when you skin a just a little bit oily anyway.

I've been using Nivea for Men Energizing Face Scrub and After Shave Cooling Balm for about a week and like them. Not a lot of menthol in the cooling balm but it leaves my skin feeling very good.

I know there are better higher end products out there but I wouldn't feel deprived if I had to stick with these.

I use an Equate (Wal Mart house brand) medicated apricot scrub . I think it is a knock of of St. Ive's. The Salicylic Acid helps with my oily skin and the apricot grit helps remove dead skin. The fact that it is less than $3 a tube is nice too.

Has anyone tried the Nivea DOuble Action face wash?

I thought it was a tad drying. (I prefer the Sensitive version or Cetaphil)

Might be good for hot/humid summers.

I've tried it. I'm not sure if was drying but it left my skin feeling a bit tight.

L'Oreal Hydra Energetic Foaming Cleansing Gel is probably the best I've used.
