Apparently the stars were in alignment, because this was a magical shave. My lather was perfect, and something about the (new?) Milord made for a very close, comfortable shave. No knicks, and only slight irritation right under my chin, but even that is more tame than usual. I'm beginning to wonder why I bought a new Merkur when I first started; Gilette had it right the first time around. :D

OWOWOWOWOWOW, second time i've tried Tescos with Futur and it cut my neck terribly, once again. They work great in my Shavette, but they're quite thin and bendy and don't jive well with my Futur, at least on the setting i use.

The Coates performed very well -- thick, rich & cushiony. However, I really don't like the scent. I don't know if it's degraded over time or if it always smelled this way but it has a distinct bitter, synthetic tang to it that has nothing to do with lime.

Technically one of my best shaves in a while. The closeness was pretty good, and very little irritation on my neck.

One thing I tried yesterday and the day before was a night-before treatment. I washed my face and applied Proraso pre/post right before bed. I got this idea off a Neutrogena aftershave balm label. Since I don't shower before shaving, I thought this would help with pre-shave conditioning. Seems to work pretty well, although eventually I might just apply any moisturizer rather than ASB specifically.

I keep a spreadsheet on my pc at work, every morning I enter my "data" into it for the day. (Pre/Razor/Brush/Cream/Soap/Aftershave/ASB/EDT) It helps me kind of keep track of what "works" and what to not repeat.

I post SOTD's once or twice a week when I feel the combination was exceptional.

load brush with van der hagen glycerin soap,add a bit of derby normal cream.
brush up good on the face.

N-S pass a bit of pull.(3 days of beard growth)

diagonal pass,good.
ended up with no irritation and fairly moist skin.

Four shaves does seem to be the most I can get out of a blade before it starts getting uncomfortable. I think I'll push it a little more over the weekend just for the sake of experimentation.

Still, a pretty close shave. I missed a spot on my chin and an area near my Adam's apple is irritated, but overall it looks and feels good.

A lot of posts I read like Proraso pre/post more as a post than a pre. I like it very much for preshave. For post, I think for this time of year I might prefer something a little more watery than creamy.

The razor is very impressive to look at and I had never shaved with a Damascus razor before...wow what a different feeling. It feels so solid and strong whereas most steel blades seem to have some "give" to them. Can't wait to shave with it again!

The fellow over at SRP sent me the wrong razor by mistake, but I figured I'd give it a test run anyhow. The 4/8 blade was not bad at all. Easier to move around the ol' face and the square point made it a little easier to get into tight spots. All in all a good shave, but hopefully I'll be getting the razor I ordered soon! No aftershave product was needed today :w00t:

First time using the Omega boar brush and the QED SS. The brush was a bit stiff, but not uncomfortable, and it will hold enough lather for three + passes and that is all I ask of a brush. The QED lathered like a champ and the scent is unusual. I was looking for something a bit different and this fit the bill quite nicely. Now I want to order some more QED soaps.
