So ladies and gentleman, we already have a "How's your day" thread, how 'bout a "what's for lunch"?
So, umm, what're you eatin' today?
Me:
Leftover Jambalaya (chicken and sausage), Cool Ranch Doritos w/ Ro-Tel, straight, & my Black & Green Tea concoction; maybe a dark chocolate Hershey's kiss later.

Sadly, I have a makeup class today at my lunch hour and didn't have time to make myself a decent lunch, so I'm eating a cold can of Progresso chicken and wild rice soup with a cup of pudding for dessert. Suffice it to say: I am not happy.

Leftover Jambalaya sounds good.

But I'll be having a Stouffer's "corner bistro" Panini. A little of false advertising on their part; since there is only one sandwich per box is should be called Panino.

Well... had some left over smoked country ribs in the fridge. So, I slice about 6 oz paper thin, put it in a dish with some baked beans with a half teaspoon of Dijon mustard. Heated this combo up in the microwave on 7 power and had some awesome eats. Desert was some mandarin oranges. Finished up with a nice cup of hot loose leaf white tea.

I don't know exactly how to answer... my morning snack kind of lasted until lunch... and then some.

I ate carrot sticks throughout the morning, then had an apple, then ate some strange casserole my wife and I made last night. It's really good, but I have no idea what we put in it. Leftover turkey, stir-fry noodles, tomatoes we had to use before they went bad on us, cheese, bread crumbs, and cream of mushroom soup. All in all a very tasty experiment.

It's time to go shopping! Mr. Gillette mustered (no pun intended) a can of Hormel Deviled Ham, a pack of Ritz crackers, a Gala apple, and a can of Fresca.

A co-worker was horrified that I'd eat that, and I began to talk about it being like cat food. "No wonder the kitties come a-running when they hear the can pop," I says, and she got a little white. Then I went near her, licked my "paws" and washed the back of my head.

For some reason, she picked up her wastebasket and buried her head in it. I finished with "Tender Vittles or "Friskies Chunky?"

It killed! My work here is done for the day...and I'd forgotten just how much I don't like Deviled Ham...

I had some kind of soup I threw together in an attempt to use a few ingredients that were going to spoil otherwise. It involved potatoes, celery, split peas, various beans, bacon, leek, shallot, garlic and veggie broth. I would have loved to start with a mirepoix and take it from there, but no onions or carrots. Tonight I have to use up some chicken thighs so I guess it'll be some kind of chicken soup with homemade pasta to use up a few eggs or it may go to some kind of gumbo to use up the shrimp.

While cooking without a recipe is fun, it's a real pain in the ass to use up all your perishables.

Ha! I was going to ask how the leftover Jambalaya was back in April Jim, but then I came to this last page and saw you had a slim fast shake in June. Belt was getting a little tight huh? Classic.

btw I've been eating salads at lunch everyday for the past six mos. I thought I'd hate it, but you know it's actually working out ok. For one thing I don't skimp with supper--don't go overboard, but don't skimp either. The salads combined w/ dedicated cardio at the gym and I'm down 26lbs.

Matter of fact it's time for the daily rabbit food right about now.

nah, about 2-3 times a year I do slim fast for a couple of weeks, helps me get back to a rhythm of smaller portions, 5-6 meals plan that I invariably get away from, and it works for me. I don't believe in slim fast as a program itself, as far as a long term solution, but it does have all the nutrients one would need for use like I do. I'm inching near the -50 lbs mark, so I reckon it helps :001_smile
and that reminds me....

Today’s lunch will be rather simple, homemade venison sausage grilled, topped with chilled steamed asparagus and fresh sliced tomato stacked on a potato roll. Served along side are a few garlic pickle spears and some freshly brewed sun tea.

As noted previously my lunches are the same everyday and boring. Salad yesterday, salad today and salad tomorrow. Therefore I am going to list my suppers from now on. Last night we ate out at a Japanese restaurant. Tampura steak with that sticky white rice they give you plus some fried veggies. Wife had a chicken noodle dish; man those Japanese can cook up a noodle. It's pricey, but tasty.

Last nighs fare: Carne ranchero w/ white Mexican sticky rice. Carne ranchero is basically ground beef, onions, pickled carrots and jalepenos (La Costena), serrano or chili peppers mixed all together. Lay it out over the rice and chow down. I gorged myself and went back for seconds. Yuuuuuumy!
