Hope this isn't too silly a question. I can't edit my posts other than one or two from a day ago. I can't edit a posting over three days old. Is there an issue with this? From time to time, I will pore over my older postings and edit for brevity or delete old jabbering posts that no one responded to or whatever. This doesn't seem to be doable for more than one or two posts. Why so?

Todd,
You can only edit your posts for up to three days. This is done as a "catch all" as many people edit posts after a few days, whereby responses were tacked on, making the thread make little/no sense. We've also had all sorts of problems with fellas accidently deleting some of their old posts, etc etc and have just found it to be easier to limit the editing to three days.

Joel,
I do beleive this approach is ill conceived. In the past, I have tried to maintain a linked list of cities and shaving kit shops in a single, sticky message in the SHOPPING FORUM to simplify finding shopping venues for wet shavers traveling about. I also did the same in the SHAVING SOAP FORUM for a collection of French Soaps. It is now impossible to update and maintain these lists.
If this time limit for editing is done, as you say, to keep people from inadvertently deleting posts, there is no way to fool proof this function. You just find bigger fools.

I think it is now set for a few months, after some back and forth with Nick on a similar subject. I have the same need to edit posts long after they are originally made. I think we need to have some sort of honor system here while keeping the flexibility to edit posts.
