View Full Version : Into my second week and the shave today was transcendent

Today everything just clicked and fell into place. It was far and away my best shave. The shaving cream whipped up into a lather in a matter of seconds. I didn't have to add more water and it wasn't too thin either. My Merkur Long Classic glided over my face with the greatest of ease happily cutting hairs. Pure unadulterated magic.

I am BBS for the first time. I didn't miss any hairs anywhere. No razor burn whatsoever, no nicks, no cuts. I strolled out of my house like I owned the world.

So THIS is what the fuss is all about!

I know I'll have worse shaves and possibly better ones but today was just pure magic. Never, ever had a day like this with the multi-blade or an electric.

I think I'll go and tell my boss to take this job and....

Maybe not the best idea but you can feel the vibe I have. Thanks to all the great posters here for guiding me along the way. BTW I think alternating between my Merkur Long Classic and my Gillette tech has helped hone my technique. Really interesting stuff.

Great job and congrats on the shave. It's sort of like golf when you start. You hit just enough good ones to know that you can so you keep going.

I still have fond memories of some of my better shaves--how geeky is that!--but you know how a really great shave can make you feel good for the whole day?

It also makes you a bit sad for the guys who never have this experience. I know there was a thread about wet shaving prosletyzing a few months back, and while I find the practice generally abhorent when my doorbell is ringing, I can understand the passion that inspires people to do this sort of thing.

After a BBS shave, you'll find yourself rubbing your face the whole day.

I beleive I've read the term 'faceterbating' on here somewhere to describe this....:tongue_sm

Congratulations Jim! You managed it 2 weeks faster than I did so you're on the fast track to success. Now I can watch for tips and techniques from you as well as the other veterans here :001_rolle . Good luck with continued success!

Did the georgous Gillette Brunette suddendly cling to you and demand that you make a woman out of her?

Now, THAT would be a perfect shave!
